Chapter Sixteen: Magic Crystal Transaction
"What are you doing?" Lin Li wiped the cold sweat, was about to walk into the small house, but unexpectedly two big men came over, raised their hands and blocked him at the door.
Two burly men with bare arms and menacing faces, clearly seasoned fighters, glared at him. Lin Li touched his nose, a hint of fear in his voice, and replied softly: "Selling things..."
"Get out of here! You don't even bother to look in the mirror, do you think Galos Exchange is a place where you can just barge in?" He said, pushing Lin Li out the door.
Lin Li was pushed back repeatedly: "Can't you just talk things out instead of pushing?"
"Get out of here!"
Lin Li was still nagging, and the two of them suddenly got angry, clenched their fists and were about to fight.
Kevin was panting heavily, and as soon as he looked up, he saw the two sides clashing. Wanting to open his mouth to stop them was already a bit too late. Seeing the big man take action, the young magician couldn't help but let out a regretful sigh.
"Ah!"
Then came two mournful cries in succession, which startled even the noisy black market into sudden stillness.
"My god, do you really think that just because someone wears a long gown they are a refined person?" Lin Li laughed with a sunny face, the onlookers couldn't understand how this seemingly harmless young mage could be so ruthless when he struck. The two large men hadn't even had time to react before each of them was hit by a spell and sent flying over ten meters away. At that moment they were lying on the ground, letting out pained moans.
"Now, can I go in and sell things?" Lin Li smiled and walked over, bending down to ask the two people who were suffering and groaning.
The two poor men were just local rascals, and most of the time they spent guarding the door was bullying the down-and-out adventurers. How often did they run into real magicians? Those two low-level magic missiles may have been weak, but they packed a solid punch to the chest, enough to knock even the strongest man half dead. Now that they saw Lin, it was as if they had seen a ghost, and in their panic, they nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay..."
Lin Li finally revealed a satisfied smile, took a few steps forward, and asked with some unease: "Won't we be driven out?"
"I won't, I won't, I won't..."
Kevin, who was standing by, looked stunned and didn't react until a while later, when he let out a somewhat helpless sigh. This young mage's personality is really similar to Uncle Greeran's - both are vengeful and ruthless when they attack... no wonder Uncle Greeran values him so much...
Among the two unlucky devils' painful groans, Lin Li walked into the exchange with a clear and refreshing expression.
Kevin caught up, revealing a bitter smile: "The Gallos Exchange is membership-based, I haven't even had time to take out my membership card, and you've already beaten the guy... this move was too quick..."
"What's up?" Lin Li smiled and casually asked: "Got a backstage?"
"Of course, a place like the Gallos Exchange would have to be under some kind of protection." Kevin's head began to ache as he mentioned this: "The one protecting this place is Old Odin, the largest underground force in Gallos - but that's not the point. The key is that Old Odin has always had a good relationship with the Magic Association, and he's been friends with Guildmaster Grarian since they were young... You quietly beating up someone like that, Guildmaster Grarian won't be able to explain it to Old Odin..."
"It's all the same anyway, let's just wait for him to come looking for us and then we'll talk."
The Gallos Exchange was empty, except for an old man leaning on the counter dozing off. Lin Li walked in and knocked on the counter several times before the old man opened his eyes with a sleepy expression, yawning and complaining softly: "These young people nowadays are really ungrateful, they even disturb an old man's occasional nap... Ah, at my age, I don't know how many more good sleeps I can get..."
Lin Li touched his nose with a gloomy expression, this old guy is even more capable of talking nonsense than Ge Rui'an...
"Hurry up and say what you want to say, don't delay the old man's rest." The old man's voice was weak and sounded like he was about to run out of breath.
"I heard from a friend that the Garos Exchange is buying various magical materials, and I just so happen to have a few magic crystals on hand, so I thought I'd bring them over to see if I can exchange them for some cash. The other party was quite old after all, not like those two unlucky devils outside who were strong and vigorous. Lin Li could only forcibly hold back his anger."
He didn't bother to argue with the old man anymore and took out the scroll bag that Ina had given him from his bosom.
Then a burst of "rattling" sounds was heard, and dozens of magic crystals rolled onto the counter.
Looking at the sparkling magic crystals, Kevin felt a chill run down his spine. He didn't even need to take a closer look; just by sensing the elemental fluctuations emanating from the crystals, he could tell that they were all at least level 5 or higher. Magic beasts weren't something you could just milk like cows whenever you wanted; even if you mobilized an entire mercenary battalion, it would still take them over a dozen days to obtain this many high-level magic crystals.
Kevin really couldn't understand how so many high-quality magic crystals ended up in Lin Li's hands...
The old man behind the counter reacted the most.
This old man was just drowsy, but now a large number of magic crystals rolled out from the scroll bag. The old man's eyes lit up on the spot, and he jumped up from his chair with a "whoosh" sound. He pounced onto the counter, his reaction swift and agile, without any sign of being elderly.
"Lion Scorpion... Bloodthirsty Lizard... Thunder Beast, I'm going to...! How can there still be a Bipedal Flying Dragon?!" The old man's eyes shone brightly as he counted the items on the counter one by one, sometimes muttering softly and sometimes exclaiming loudly. His expression and eye color were truly unpredictable.
"This... are all yours?" The two of them waited for nearly half an hour before the old man finally lifted his head from a pile of magic crystals, looking at Lin with a gaze that was like a big grey wolf seeing a small white rabbit.
"Basically, that's how it is..."
Lin Li nodded stiffly and was about to ask if he would accept it when the old man suddenly slapped the table: "A total of 8,000 gold coins, will you sell or not?"
"Eight thousand gold coins?" Lin Li was somewhat bewildered, as a transmigrator, he really had no concept of money in the world of Anril. He could only turn his head around and cast a pleading glance at Kevin.
"Ten thousand!" Kevin spat out a number with conviction.
"Wait... I need to think about it for a moment."
Ten thousand gold coins is a large sum after all, and the old man didn't dare to make a decision on his own. He just told the two of them and then hastily left the counter. The two of them waited for a long time before seeing the old man return with a joyful expression. This time he didn't hesitate at all, directly putting away the dozens of magic crystals: "Deal!"
