Chapter 27 – Round up at home.
“And I refuse to bend here,” Sakura decred, standing defiantly before a group of girls in our house. Behind her, Angelica was singing a theme that, in my opinion, didn't fit the scene. However, my objections were dismissed as they continued to reenact the scene with it. The song was a rap track I had overpyed during my relentless gaming sessions as a kid, mainly because I knew I wasn't supposed to be listening to it.
They were reenacting the match that had earned me the nickname 'the Smiling Angel of Defiance,' all because of the smile I fshed at my opponent. That same smile I supposedly gave the Amazon had cemented the moniker. 'At least it's not too long,' I thought, clinging to the only genuinely positive aspect of the nickname.
Alice was adding to the atmosphere by scattering petals as Sakura rose to her feet, a recent addition to the py. Even Yuno contributed, donning Sakura with six magnificent white angel wings as she stood, this was the test addition. The py was evolving rapidly, every time they performed it.
To the left of the crowd, the twins cpped joyously from Miki’s p. To the right, a group of girls who normally ignored me during training were now starstruck, having pestered Angelica into arranging a meeting with me. I wanted nothing to do with them, but Sakura didn’t seem to mind picking up my sck, more than eager to show off on my behalf.
“Is my little prince hiding out again?” My mother asked as she approached where I was sitting alone at the back, away from the crowd.
She stopped in front of me, unfolding my arms that were crossed over my chest. “Since he says he's too old to be held, he can hold his dear old mom,” she said pyfully, sitting down on my p and repositioning my arms around her.
Earlier, I had started a date that ended up with her as the target before the girls arrived, so I could use up the rest of my date points. I had no intention of leveling up this year; I was saving that for next year when I should be able to build everything I needed in Love Land and upgrade my weapons and armor to a usable level.
I tell myself I'm postponing my leveling for the reasons mentioned, but the truth is, I want to spend more time with my family before I'm forced to leave. Men are forbidden from returning home until their service is completed. Sure, I'll have Love Land, but two hours a year to spend with them just isn't enough.
“I'm just checking my system notifications and pnning out the yout of Love Land,” I responded to her inquiry.
“Is that what you call it when you're hiding and sulking in the corner because you can't take a step outside without some random girl coming up to you?” she asked for crification.
“No, I really am just—ouch,” I winced as she pinched my thigh, cutting me off.
“You are seven cycles too early to fool your mother,” she said without turning around, but I could still see her smile.
“Fine, it was nicer when nobody knew us and I could just spend uninterrupted time with you guys. And the fact that you all just encourage them isn't helping,” I compined to her.
She ughed. “You will have to get used to it; you are fated for grand things.”
“That doesn't mean I have to like it,” I muttered, sulking even more.
"You know, no matter how mighty the hero, they cannot change fate. Just make sure to get a few more who are good at management; you don't want to work poor little Angelica to death," Mom advised. I was really grateful to Angelica. She always stepped forward to manage the situation whenever the girls approached, ensuring everything was handled smoothly and promptly.
The downside is that I would have to deal with them ter, and she wouldn't let me simply shoo them away because maintaining a good reputation was important. I also realized she was right—if something happened in the future, it would be better to be liked than hated. Thankfully, my achievements and charm made my sulking appear cute. It would be too exhausting to have to py nice with these kinds of girls all day.
“I don't want to talk about this,” I say firmly. I'm still not pnning to marry them. Hell, I'm not pnning to marry anyone, and the number of people asking is becoming overwhelming. I'll have to think of some way to put a stop to it, or Angelica and my mother will have me betrothed to every eligible girl in the city.
“And make sure to get one who will knock some sense into you,” she added with another small giggle.
Seeing that I wasn’t responding, she continued, “Fine, fine, my moody little prince, mother will drop it.” She leaned back against me, making herself comfortable.
While I held my mother and half-watched the scene that restarted, I actually began to check through my system notifications. They had reached the part where I was colred, but instead of a metal colr, it was a silver one that matched my hair and featured intricate designs. I just wished they would enact a different scene instead of repeatedly doing the one where I spent 99% of my time acting like a dog.

I also ended up purchasing the All American Revolver, Biridere Hammer, and Sadogire Axe. The revolver reminded me of home, and even though I was uncertain about its usefulness, the variety of ammunition avaible in the shop seemed promising. I chose the hammer in hopes that it would complement Sk?gul, the valkyrie's card, and the axe simply because it looked cool and I had the points to spare.

It was a massive double-bded axe. I would say it was impractical, except I've seen some weapons much rger being wielded here.
I also purchased a number of healing potions for my sisters since they were more potent for their tier than anything avaible in the city's shops. Thanks to the prize money from winning the tournament and the hush money from the kidnapping attempt, we were financially well off. So, while buying potions below tier 6 wouldn't bankrupt us, that money could be better spent on commissioning weapon and armor upgrades. The real challenge was finding a seller willing or a craftsman capable of making them.
The st items I purchased were some practical gadgets, including lights that I could use myself, and everyday essentials so I wouldn't have to bother my family for every little thing.
I spent the rest of my time reviewing the requirements for some of the buildings in Love Land, pnning which ones to aim for. The more useful the building, the more of a pain in the ass the requirements tended to be, if they were even listed at all. Some of the ter buildings were marked only with question marks.
As it got te, it was time for the girls to head home, though it was clear they were trying their best to prolong their stay.
“You know that it is not wise to get between a boy and his mother. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to put in a good word for each of you,” Angelica smiled at them, while deftly guiding them toward the door.
“We understand, bye Smiling Angel!” The girls waved at me before leaving, and I gave a small wave back, causing them to gush. I was relieved when they were finally gone.
After they had left, Angelica took out a rubix, a device used to record information—not in words, but through magical signals that allowed her to quickly sort through the data. It was a spherical object with a small opening for the Cores needed to power it.
While she was busy with that, Sakura approached me with the silver colr in hand. “Come on, brother, they’re gone. Just once, it’s so much cooler when you do it.”
“Can’t it be another one?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“Come on, you were ‘cool’ the whole tournament, but nothing came close to your win against Vyx,” Sakura replied, using a word from my world to make her point.
Seeing that I wasn’t budging, a slight smile appeared on her face as she raced over to the twins. “Don’t you two want brother to do the py?”
“Nii,” they both chimed in, looking at me expectantly.
“That's dirty. And they just want to see me rolling around like a dog,” I said, doing my best not to give in to their pleading looks.
“And they'll be really happy while you do,” Mother chimed in, supporting Sakura.
“God dammit... Fine, but what happened to the nice sweet girl who would just cry and compin when she didn't get her way?” I conceded.
“I didn’t cry… that much. I'll make it up to you; how about a massage before bed? I might not have a massage Blessing, but they are still rexing,” she offered, trying to bribe me. Ever since Miki mentioned she could use her Blessing to extract something from me, Sakura had been practicing to pull fatigue and soreness out. I was relieved that the deeper meaning had gone over her head, and the massages felt nice, but the implication had been stuck in my mind ever since.
"Fufu, just imagine what it will feel like when she can use her Blessing to pull it out in one go," the main instigator said.
I threw a pillow at her. “This is all your fault with those comments.”
“No need to thank me, sweetie, what else is a mother for?” she said, smiling as the twins cpped when the pillow hit her.
Partly to escape the conversation and the chance of Sakura discovering the true meaning, but mostly because they all really wanted me to, I got up and took center stage where I reenacted the scene from the tournament. In other words, I spent the rest of the night rolling around like a dog, but seeing the big smiles all around, it was worth it.
