Chapter 8 The Revolver

In the forest, there were continuous sounds of heavy panting.

Three Druids, Claude, and Rudolf, were dashing wildly through the forest.

"When did a tribe of 18 werewolves appear around Lemang Town?"

"I don't know, Sheriff. This is the first time we've encountered such a large werewolf tribe!

In a werewolf tribe, there is always an alpha werewolf. For a group of less than 10 werewolves, the alpha is usually the strongest Level 1 werewolf.

A tribe of 18 werewolves indicates that their alpha is at least a Level 2 werewolf!"

Among the five people fleeing, only Sheriff Claude was a Level 2 apostle. However, Sheriff Claude was an alchemist and not proficient in close combat. Eighteen werewolves were more than enough to pose a great threat to Sheriff Claude.

"Let's escape from the forest first!" This was the sheriff's final decision.

In the forest, although the Druids had an advantage, for the sheriff and Rudolf, the disadvantages were too great. Both of them mainly relied on firearms and were not accustomed to fighting in the dense pine forest.

Rudolf was somewhat fortunate that he had managed to keep up with the others. His physical fitness had improved a bit compared to before he became a wizard apprentice.

The light ahead was getting brighter and brighter, indicating that they had reached the edge of the forest.

"Here they come!" The middle-aged Druid shouted.

With the Druid's reminder, Rudolf soon heard the noises around them.

Something was moving rapidly around them.

Suddenly, three werewolves leaped out from the bushes and rushed fiercely towards the five people including Rudolf.

Sheriff Claude was extremely quick in drawing his gun. His revolver fired a shot instantly, piercing through the head of one werewolf.

Blood spurted out from the back of the werewolf's head, and it fell heavily to the ground.

Rudolf watched as the werewolf, which was originally a huge wolf about two meters tall, gradually transformed back into a human form.

The wolf fur on its body slowly turned into body hair, its limbs shortened, its head shrank, and its protruding wolf's mouth retracted. Eventually, it turned into a naked man.

At the back of the man's head, the wound was not just bleeding but emitting a red light as if the bones and scalp were on fire. This was a unique ability of alchemical bullets, which could continuously burn around the wound.

The other two werewolves landed on the ground, separating the Druids from the sheriff and Rudolf.

Soon, another seven or eight werewolves appeared around them.

Sheriff Claude shouted at Rudolf, "Clear the way!"

Rudolf had already raised his double-barreled shotgun.

The shotgun required the shortest aiming time, and it was just suitable for clearing the way at this moment.

Aiming at the three werewolves in the direction of the forest exit, Rudolf fired the gun without hesitation.

Two alchemical shotgun shells were fired. Rudolf didn't even aim for their heads. Dozens of pellets sprayed forward and directly hit the huge bodies of the werewolves in front of him.

Rudolf knew that he was the weakest among them, so he took the lead in rushing towards the gap he had just created.

Before he escaped from the encirclement, he looked back and saw that a young Druid and his bear each had a werewolf on them.

This wave of attack by the werewolves was mainly targeted at the Druids.

Obviously, the werewolves hated the Druids more.

Rudolf fled towards the outside of the forest without looking back, and Sheriff Claude followed closely behind.

As Rudolf fled, he reloaded his shotgun.

The sheriff, on the other hand, turned back and kept shooting to help the Druids escape.

There came the painful howls of the giant bear from behind. In contrast, the werewolves didn't make much noise. Their hunting was extremely quiet.

The sound of the bushes being parted, the sound of something hitting the big tree, the continuous gunshots of the sheriff, and the shouts of the young Druid all testified to the intensity of the battle behind them.

After Rudolf loaded his shotgun, he kept looking around and found that no werewolves were rushing over to intercept him.

Sheriff Claude was experienced and an excellent marksman. No werewolf could break through the defense of his revolver.

Rudolf finally saw the horses tied outside the forest.

Without taking the time to untie the reins, he directly drew his dagger and cut off the part of the rope tied to the tree.

He ran from one horse to another and finally set all the horses free.

Werewolves had a deterrent effect on all animals, and the horses were in a state of panic at this moment.

Rudolf mounted a horse and finally felt a little sense of security.

It was he who rushed out first and got away from the forest. The weak have their own way. The weak one runs first, and I'm weak, so I'm justified.

Rudolf turned around on the horse and saw that Sheriff Claude had also rushed out and mounted a horse to catch up.

After that, it was the middle-aged Druid, and then another Druid.

And that was all. The Druids' bears hadn't been able to rush out, and the young Druid whom Rudolf had always asked questions to had died in the forest.

Rudolf didn't even remember the name of that Druid now.

"Run! Head back to the farm first!"

Hearing the sheriff's order, Rudolf whipped the horse and fled towards the farm.

The werewolves behind them changed from an upright posture to a four-legged stance and started running wildly after them.

There came the howl of the alpha werewolf from behind. After chasing for a while, these werewolves stopped their pursuit.

They stood on a small mound, and their cold wolf eyes stared from a distance as Rudolf and the others fled.

Rudolf looked back at that group of werewolves, and his back felt icy cold.

Werewolves were extremely patient when hunting. They had been targeted by the werewolves, and they would be in danger for a long time to come.

Soon, Rudolf and the others entered the farm.

"Rudolf, move all the copper you can find into the farm's warehouse."

There were simple tools in the warehouse. Sheriff Claude hadn't expected to encounter such a big situation when he came out this time, so he needed to replenish his weapons and ammunition.

Rudolf quickly entered the farmer's house and began searching for copper items in the room.

Fortunately, Rudolf found 12 copper handles, a string of copper keys, three copper candlesticks, and a bundle of copper wire.

Sheriff Claude was on high alert. He started using the simple tools to make alchemical refined copper.

Approximately five parts of copper were needed to make one part of alchemical refined copper. This refined copper contained the burning power of the alchemist.

Such a high material consumption ratio was also the reason why alchemists were particularly resource-consuming.

In the farmer's armory, there were still some bullets. Based on these bullets, Sheriff Claude made a considerable number of alchemical bullets.

Rudolf also found a revolver in the farmer's armory. He eagerly handed the revolver to Sheriff Claude.

Rudolf's intention was obvious. He also wanted to use the revolver as a weapon.

The revolver was much cooler than the shotgun.

"Just this once... Lead bullets are much cheaper than copper bullets. In the future, I'll mainly provide you with lead bullets."

Rudolf didn't care about the future. He got 12 golden alchemical bullets.

Rudolf loaded six bullets into the revolver and another six bullets into the loader. Then, feeling satisfied, he picked up the telescope and left the house to scout for any possible werewolves.

The middle-aged Druid looked at Rudolf's back and said to Sheriff Claude, "It's so dangerous now. Is this young patrolman really not afraid of death?"

Sheriff Claude stopped what he was doing and said:

"This is exactly what I like about him. I can see his curiosity about the world in his eyes, especially these past few days.

Therefore, he is always brave enough to try and fearless.

Although those who die quickly often have such characteristics, I hope he can grow up quickly and survive."
