"Note that the Afghan guerrillas are approaching, 400 meters away, get closer and then attack." Inside the tank, the commander's eyes were fixed on the periscope, issuing orders to several infantry fighting vehicles around through radio.

In thick fog, nothing can be seen a few meters away, but tanks and armored vehicles have other means besides visual observation, such as night vision devices!

The infrared headlights of these armored vehicles were all turned on, and through the night vision devices, they could clearly see the situation hundreds of meters away. Due to the influence of some small dust particles in the fog, the infrared rays were refracted, causing a blur at 500 meters away. However, within 400 meters, they still saw those blurry Afghan guerrillas approaching.

Those damned guerrillas! As expected, they took advantage of the thick fog to launch a sneak attack on Jalalabad. Did they think this was going to be an easy picnic?

Luckily they had made preparations! The tank commander thought to himself as he continuously observed the front through night vision devices.

In the fog, a group of Afghan guerrillas are gradually approaching, getting closer and closer. They can be seen holding guns and slowly moving forward. Due to the poor visibility in the thick fog, they even bump into each other from time to time, with those in the back walking faster and colliding with those in front.

With such a thick fog, they can still find the right direction, it's not that they are familiar with this place. They just came along the main road.

If it weren't for this fog, these guerrillas would have approached from any direction, such as the fields or rivers, and definitely avoided the main road, directly crossing over from the houses outside the city. Now they can only take the main road. This thick fog is simply a great opportunity for our side to wipe them out!

The infrared spotlight on the top of the tank has been shining all the time, emitting invisible infrared rays to the naked eye, and then reflecting back into the commander's night vision device, presenting an image.

"Note that the target has approached within three hundred meters, prepare and align machine guns." The trainmaster continued to command.

Coaxial machine gun. Refers to the small-caliber machine gun installed next to the main gun on a tank turret, also called "synchronous machine gun" or "coaxial machine gun". Operated by the gunner. This weapon has proven to be very effective in combat, greatly enhancing the tank's response to light targets, saving main gun ammunition, and strengthening the tank's anti-infantry capability in close combat.

The T-62 and BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle both have a coaxial 7.62 mm caliber machine gun that fires when the target is detected. As the turret rotates, the bullets from the coaxial machine gun will fly over to form a killing zone around the infantry, and compared to the high-mounted anti-aircraft machine gun on top of the turret, it does not require the operator to exit the turret. This prevents the operator's hand from being sniped by a sniper rifle, as well as maintaining combat effectiveness in nuclear warfare.

"Clang." With the trainmaster's command, the gunner inserted the machine gun's ammunition belt into the gun, pulled the handle, and completed the loading action.

The machine guns inside the infantry fighting vehicle were also ready, and the mechanized infantrymen on board began to point their AK-74 rifles at the shooting ports on both sides.

  The battle is coming soon.

At the forefront is the Afghan Liberal Army, with a loud name. This is a Baloch guerrilla force that has been quietly fighting in the mountains for years without much success. This time they came to attack Jalalabad, and the leader of the guerrilla force was full of confidence, determined to bring back a brilliant victory!

People are walking in a hurry, due to the thick fog, their coordination with each other is very poor.

"Go, go fast!" The captain shouted.

"Captain, we should be approaching the checkpoint soon." a team member said to the captain, they had come close to here for observation during the day.

"Keep your voices down!" The captain's loud voice could be heard a hundred meters away: "We're approaching the outpost up ahead, let's sneak up and take out the Soviets!"

"Rat-a-tat-tat." Just then, a sudden burst of gunfire came from up ahead.

The tank commander was very patient and waited until the guerrillas were within eighty meters of their own position before ordering to open fire. Suddenly, several infantry fighting vehicles and a tank formed a semi-circular defensive area and opened intense fire on the surrounding guerrillas.

"Rat-a-tat-a..." The bullets flew by, the front guerrilla fighters were caught off guard, and they fell to the ground with a loud cry. At this time, the guerrilla fighters behind them had not yet reacted.

"Charge, charge forward!" The brainless guerrilla leader, as if wanting to commit suicide with his own team, ordered them to advance against the machine guns, and he had no choice either. Since they were discovered, the sneak attack could only become a strong assault.

"Rat-a-tat-a..." The tank's turret rotated, and in the fan-shaped area ahead, there were corpses everywhere. This battle was too enjoyable, those guerrilla fighters who used to dodge and weave, today didn't know what happened, actually charged towards their own guns like they came to get slaughtered on purpose!

  This is not a battle, it's a one-sided massacre!

Fighting around Jalalabad was incessant, several major intersections were almost simultaneously entered into combat, the ambushing guerrillas were ambushed in turn.

The Soviets seemed to have grown fiery eyes, and in this foggy day, they could clearly see their own position! Looking at their machine gun firing, five or six shots at a time, all of them were shooting at the guerrilla's position!

The guerrilla troops behind reacted and stopped charging forward.

"We've encountered the Soviets!" Masood listened to his guerrilla's report, gazing out at the vast expanse of white, only able to hear the sound of machine guns, his face somewhat pale.

The Soviets are prepared! During the daytime reconnaissance, there was only one tank at this outpost, and the sentries were all carrying rifles on their backs. But now, with these shots ringing out, at least seven or eight machine guns are firing! This shows that the Soviets have set up a pocket here and are waiting for our side to come and fall into it!

This is a complete trap! Muhhamad was absolutely right! Our side doesn't have the capability to attack big cities at all!

  "Order, immediate withdrawal!" Masood said.

"Masood, we cannot retreat!" Nikhubuddin said: "With such a big fog, the Soviet shooting is just aimless shooting. As long as our will is firmer, we can definitely rush up and rush into Jalalabad! Believe me, what we need is to hold on!"

Random shooting? If that were the case, the enemy's machine gun fire should be continuous. Now it's all five or six shots at a time, brief and precise! Masood said: "No, we need to retreat!"

"The order of the alliance..." Nikolai's voice suddenly became stern.

"Disband your league!" Masud also became urgent: "Does the League care about the lives of these guerrilla fighters?"

Masood and Nikhub were classmates at Kabul University, later Masood engaged in anti-Daoud government activities, was suppressed and exiled to Pakistan. During his exile, he also received help from Nikhub.

After that, the two never met again until last time, when Nikubdin came with the order of the alliance, Masud knew that his old brother had become a high-ranking person in the alliance.

The two had a past relationship, so Masud's mission to support Najibullah was supported. Even with the conflict with Mohammad, he still supported Najibullah, but now Masud could no longer hold on, the guerrilla forces were being shot by the Soviets.

But just as he finished speaking, Masood stopped.

Nikubuddin held a pistol in his hand, gripping it with his uninjured left hand, aiming at Masood's head: "Masood, please continue to act according to the original plan, otherwise, I will shoot you and take command personally."

"Sorry, old friend," Nicky said with a helpless expression on his face. "We have to do this. We can't let those Tehran guys get ahead of us."

"For the sake of a mere title, would you have our entire guerrilla force annihilated?" Masud exclaimed: "This is blasphemy against our Afghan liberation cause! Nikkutdin, you should go to hell!"

"Sorry, I'm just following the Union's orders!" Nikolai said: "Don't force me, I really will shoot, we are good brothers, I don't want to kill you."

A gust of cold wind blew across Masud's forehead, and he turned his head to look at Nikhubtin: "Are you helping the Soviets kill our guerrillas?"

When Masood finished speaking, the muscles on Nikubdin's face began to twitch involuntarily, as if he had hit his heart, and he gritted his teeth and said: "This is an order from the alliance!"

A gentle breeze blew across Masud's head, and his thoughts suddenly cleared up. A cold sweat broke out on his back instantly.

The wind has come, and the fog should disperse! Moreover, it's almost daylight!

"Boom!" Just then, a loud noise came from afar, and with the noise, a fireball appeared in the thick fog, its scorching heat visible to people 50 meters away.

"The Soviet tank has been destroyed! Charge!" a man shouted loudly.

How could the Soviet tanks be destroyed? Tanks and armored vehicles formed a semi-circular defensive position, with firepower pointing outward, and infrared spotlights illuminating them, completely occupying the night vision advantage, how were they destroyed by the backward guerrilla troops instead?

The guerrilla fighters carried RPGs, and the tank's shadow was invisible from a dozen meters away. They wouldn't get close to within fifty meters, or they would be shot by the tank's and armored vehicle's machine guns. They didn't have any chance at all!

The crew of the T-62 tank would never know the truth, as a loud crash was heard from the hull, followed by a wave of heat that poured in, and the entire interior of the tank became extremely hot in an instant, they all became roasted chickens.
