Chapter 33: Cannon Firing at Helicopters

Chapter Thirty-Three: Cannon Firing at Helicopter

Fighting means killing, and Muhammad ordered two guerrilla fighters, Herman and others, to shell the Soviet helicopter base. They only fired one shell and then immediately retreated without even taking their recoilless gun with them. Despite this, they still faced great danger. The mountain road tens of kilometers away from the mountainous area could become a death zone for them at any time.

However, Muhhamad had to do this, only in this way could he create an opportunity for himself to enter the airport and blow up these helicopters. Muhhamad was also facing great danger, they would be killed by the furious Soviets at any time.

Muhammad seized the only gap, no one paid attention to them, the infantry had all gone out to pursue, leaving only the ground crew still tense repairing the helicopter.

On one side of the apron, a standby helicopter was waiting, and two pilots rushed out of the rest room at the base and ran towards their own helicopter.

Take down the guerrillas! Dare to sneak into our helicopter base, it's simply asking for death! Two pilots rushed onto the plane, stepped on the pedal, kicked into the cockpit and quickly covered the hatch.

The ground crew moved the ladder away, and two people continued to turn the electric gate. The engine on top of their heads emitted a unique roar, and the helicopter was started. The rotor followed suit, spinning around, ready to take off at any moment.

"Three o'clock direction, Khwaja, fire!" Muhammad shouted.

"Understood." Khwaja also saw the helicopter starting up, its cannon swiveling around.

Just then, the ground crew finally discovered that there was something wrong with this armored vehicle. It did not go out to pursue the guerrillas, but instead drove into the apron, and the turret was still rotating!

"Stop him!" a ground crew member yelled, grabbing an AK-74U rifle from beside him.

"Boom!" At this moment, a 73mm cannon on the top of the armored vehicle emitted a flame from its muzzle and fired a shell.

"Pull up!" The front cabin's weapon operator shouted. When he heard the sound of the shell coming, he knew it was definitely heading towards their side.

The mortar is just a decoy, the real killer is this infantry fighting vehicle!

As soon as the helicopter takes off and kills this infantry fighting vehicle, it's as simple as crushing an ant.

The pilots in the rear cabin naturally knew that this was the most urgent moment, and they suddenly pulled the collective pitch lever. The engine above their heads burst out with maximum power, and with a sharp whine, the helicopter took off vertically.

"Boom!" The shell exploded right under the helicopter, sending countless shrapnel flying in all directions. In an instant, this helicopter that had just taken off crashed heavily to the ground once again.

"Boom!" The doe's fire ignited a large blaze, just one bullet hit its fuel pipe, aviation fuel spilled out and exploded immediately. When the fire burned to the short wings on both sides, the weapon was detonated, causing a series of explosions.

Awesome! I've been chased by this thing, dodging left and right, almost got killed several times. Now, to personally take down a helicopter like this, it's just too exhilarating!

At this moment, Haji was filled with even more reverence for Mohammad, who was a born leader of men, the greatest gift that God could have bestowed on the Afghan warriors.

Another shell was rammed into the breech; this was their best chance yet and they had to make the most of it!

"Boom!" Another one was hit. At close range, the 73mm recoilless gun was very easy to aim at, and its firepower was fierce. The blast wave generated by the explosion could even be felt inside the armored vehicle.

"Rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat-tat." Just then gunfire erupted from both sides. The ground crew who had stayed behind at the base, although their main task was to repair planes, were also combat-capable and became fighters when they picked up their weapons.

Unfortunately, they were using 5.45 caliber AK-74 rifles, and the bullets simply could not penetrate the armor of the BMP infantry fighting vehicle.

"Fire!" Without Muhammad's command, the guerrilla fighters in the rear cabin fired at the outside through the shooting holes on both sides.

Bullets poured out of the muzzle, and the ground personnel outside quickly fell to the ground in a large area. They hastily sought cover to avoid being hit.

"Boom!" Another explosion sounded, and another helicopter was destroyed.

"Hurry! RPG? Use RPG!" Muhammad yelled towards the rear cabin.

In addition to the 73mm recoilless gun, the Soviet infantry combat vehicle had rocket tubes in the rear compartment, but they had to open the hatch and expose themselves to fire.

Now, those landmines were temporarily suppressed, and the Soviet soldiers who went out to chase them were rushing back, especially the two tanks that were accelerating their return, leaving little time for Mukhamad.

Durrani bent down, picked up the RPG rocket launcher from the cabin, opened the hatch, and was about to crawl out when a burst of gunfire hit the hatch with a loud clang.

The guerrilla fighters below immediately returned fire with bullets, suppressing the firepower on the opposite side. Durrani gritted his teeth and crawled out of the hatch.

Dulani didn't aim at the helicopter on the apron, he saw a machine gun position tens of meters ahead, and that big-caliber machine gun was turning around, about to open fire in their direction.

The armored vehicle cannot withstand the shooting of large-caliber machine guns. If the other side opens fire, all will be killed inside the armored vehicle. Durrani was originally a machine gunner and is too familiar with this point.

He pulled the RPG out from below, hoisted it onto his shoulder, at this time, the armored vehicle was still speeding along, he recalled the instructor's guidance during training, finding the lead, estimating the distance, calculating the flight time of the warhead, then, he held his breath and calmly pulled the trigger.

"Boom." A flame burst out of the rear, and a rocket-assisted grenade shot forward, heading straight for the machine gun nest in front.

At this time, the machine gun on the opposite side also opened fire.

"Rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat..." A large-caliber bullet, just one shot, could take down Duranni. He ducked his head and felt the hot bullet whizzing past his scalp, leaving a burning sensation on top of his head, and blood started flowing down.

"Boom!", the entire machine gun nest was engulfed in flames, and that heavy machine gun was also blown away.

Hit! Dulaney was overjoyed in his heart.

"Boom!" Just then, a shell whizzed by near the armored vehicle, a fragment hit the shield, and Dulaney ducked into the cockpit just in time to avoid having his head cut off.

In just a few minutes, Soviet tanks returned, and the first shell was an artillery shell that exploded near the armored vehicle.

Once the shell was stuffed into the barrel, it was not easy to get out of it, and it had to be fired. The tank just went to chase a few fleeing guerrillas, naturally using high-explosive shells, but unfortunately the high-explosive shell hadn't been fired yet, and hastily returned, at the same time launching an attack on this armored vehicle.

After the grenade was fired, an armor-piercing projectile was stuffed into the barrel. The accuracy of the armor-piercing projectile is much higher than that of the grenade. This shot will never miss!

Muhammad also knew that now was the most dangerous time, he stepped on the accelerator to the death, the armored vehicle roared and moved quickly, heading straight for a doe.

This is a doe refueling and loading ammunition when Muhammad's armored vehicle rushed over, the ground crew next to it immediately joined the battle, and the fuel pipe was not pulled out.

"Screech." Muhammad slammed on the brakes and yelled at the people in back, "Get out! Get on the plane!"

Get on a plane? When he heard this, Khwaja almost thought Muhammad was talking in his sleep. Drive an armored vehicle out of here and there's still a chance, get on a plane? Aren't we waiting to die here?

Muhammad had no time to explain. He opened the forward hatch, stood on top of the turret and flipped over into the forward driver's compartment.

Flying a plane? This is the rhythm of flying a plane? Khwaja knew that Muhammad had many skills, but unexpectedly, he can even fly a helicopter!

Muhammad was seen entering the driver's cabin, and the rest of them no longer hesitated to jump onto the rear compartment together.

The Mi-24 is a special armed helicopter, Western armed helicopters can only accommodate two flight personnel, while the Mi-24 has a wide cabin behind it that can carry a squad of infantrymen. The advantage is that it can take infantry to the battlefield and drop them off at any time to fight together. The disadvantage is that the side projection area is too large, increasing the probability of being hit. Therefore, the successors of the Mi-24, whether it's the Ka-52 or the Mi-28, no longer have a troop compartment.

Driving a vehicle may only require simple training, even an armored car is easy to learn, but a helicopter is different.

A qualified pilot must go through basic knowledge learning, various flight theories, and the study of various aircraft equipment, which takes one to two years. Then, they need to undergo simulator training, and after sufficient study hours, they are allowed to follow flights until solo flying, which is a long process. Being able to solo fly within three years is already a miracle. Afterwards, they still need to receive specialized training based on the type of helicopter being flown, be assigned to a unit, and then fly for another two years before becoming a qualified pilot.

This is also the step for all countries' military to cultivate pilots, if completely follow this routine to cultivate, Muhammad would not be able to start a helicopter.

As special forces, they have specialized armed helicopters to support them. They have little opportunity to operate the helicopter themselves. Various theoretical knowledge is not required of them; all they need to know is how to move the electric gate, how to operate these few control sticks and the directional rudder under their feet.

Never mind what the hatch is, except for the weapons, push everything up, and then push the largest hatch forward. As a result, the engine on top started roaring, and the propeller began to rotate.

Followed by, it's the throttle quadrant, lightly, lightly! Muhammad thought to himself as he pulled the left throttle quadrant lever hard.

Suddenly, a huge doe deer shook its body and swayed from side to side.
