017 Lonely Nine Swords

  Dugu Jiujian

Dugu Nine Swords, created by Sword Demon Dugu Seeking Defeat, emphasizes the victory of no move over any move. It is divided into nine forms, with the General Decision Form as its outline, which explores various ways of change and variation. The following eight forms focus on breaking, describing various martial arts characteristics, and using swords to break through. This can be said to be a very brilliant swordsmanship, but Lin Heng cannot define what degree it is.

In the past, people said that Dugu Jiujian was generally explained in two ways. One is that it was the essence of Dugu Qiubai's life; another is that it was a sword technique used by him during his hard or soft sword period.

These two statements are somewhat reasonable, but in Lin Heng's view, if the Du Gu Nine Swords were completely created by Du Gu Qiubai, then he would absolutely not be able to create either the sharp sword or the soft sword during that period.

A martial arts master, the most basic thing is to create his own martial art, like Zhang Sanfeng. But look, when Zhang Sanfeng created Tai Chi Fist and Tai Chi Sword, he was over a hundred years old. If Dugu Qiubai could create the unparalleled Dugu Nine Swords before the age of thirty, then he would be incredibly talented.

So Lin Heng does not agree with the second view. As for the first one, he is not very convinced either.

From the Condor Hero, we can see that Dugu Qiubai divided his swordsmanship into four parts: Sharp Sword, Soft Sword, Heavy Sword and Wooden Sword. However, upon closer examination, these four parts can actually be considered as three parts, namely the techniques of Sharp Sword and Soft Sword, the strength of Heavy Sword and the momentum of Wooden Sword. The Sharp Sword and Soft Sword are essentially about honing one's skills, even if internal energy is improved, it won't make a huge difference. However, when it comes to the Heavy Sword, it's different - wielding the Heavy Sword requires profound internal energy, otherwise you'll get exhausted after just a few moves. Therefore, this part is all about applying internal energy. Of course, without the previous techniques and relying solely on strength, one cannot reach Dugu Qiubai's level.

The last momentum, to say the least, is a bit mysterious, but isn't martial arts mysterious in itself? In Lin Heng's view, the wooden sword doesn't just rely on the depth of one's inner power, but rather on grasping the natural momentum, using momentum to overpower others. Otherwise, even if your inner power is extremely deep, it would be useless with just a wooden sword. Because the wooden sword itself has its limits of endurance and can't withstand too much or too long-lasting inner power.

Speaking of this, it's also worth mentioning the so-called "winning without a sword". In the Dugu Sword Tomb, on the stone slab covering the wooden sword, it is said that from then on, one gradually cultivates the realm of winning without a sword. This should be a higher level than the wooden sword. In Lin Heng's view, this "winning without a sword" should be similar to having no sword in hand but having a sword in mind, or perhaps, oneself is the sword.

It's hard to say whether Du Gu Seek Defeat has reached this realm or not, after all, there is no record of this aspect. However, the ancestors of the Duan family in The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils should have reached this realm, otherwise how could he create the Six Meridians Divine Sword, which is known as the number one swordsmanship under heaven?

In the past, Lin Heng watched various explanations, many of which said that Duan Jia's ancestors had great luck and extremely deep internal energy, so they could create the Six Meridians Divine Sword. That's right, having deep internal energy can use the Six Meridians Divine Sword, just like Duan Yu. But why don't you take a look at the monks of Tianlong Temple? They also used the Six Meridians Divine Sword, although it was a sword array, but each sword was struck out one by one, not exhausted after one sword. This can fully explain that the characteristic of using the Six Meridians Divine Sword is not about how deep the internal energy is, but about the realm of understanding.

Lin Heng had once wondered that if the cultivator of the Six Meridians Divine Sword could comprehend the One Heart Two Uses, like the divine ability of two hands clashing with each other, then wouldn't they be able to wield two swords simultaneously, or one sword after another, instead of using the Six Meridians Sword Array like most monks?

Lin Heng himself thought it was very likely.

Let's get back to the subject of Du Guo's Nine Swords. The overall framework of this sword technique is absolutely profound and intricate, describing the changes in sword techniques, so it's not something that a young Du Guo could have created. The later moves also require countless accumulation, especially the final move, Breaking Air Style, which requires an understanding of the principles of true energy. In this regard, no one else could have taught him, so he must have studied it himself, and at that time, he must have had a high level of internal skill cultivation.

In short, when Dugu Qiubai created the Dugu Jiu Jian, he must have been over 30 years old. If we consider him to be younger, then it was during the summarization of his skills that he gained experience and lessons, or perhaps when his cultivation reached a certain level, he wanted to leave something behind, so he created it.

Regardless of which, it shows that the Jiuxiao sword is absolutely the essence of Dugu Qiubai's swordsmanship. Even if it can't be compared to the realm of winning with no sword against having a sword, its concept of "no move" is enough to rank first among all moves.

It can be seen that Dugu Jiujian, Lin Heng is absolutely delighted, but unfortunately, he is destined to be disappointed. Feng Qingyang, when teaching Linghu Chong, directly blasted him out, and then let him escape, so he took action directly, and instantly knocked Lin Heng unconscious. This made Lin Heng curse loudly, but there was nothing he could do. When he woke up, the sky had already brightened, and on the cliff of Siu Guin, Tian Boguang was nowhere to be seen, leaving only him, Linghu Chong, and Feng Qingyang behind.

"Old man, what's wrong with you? The Solitary Nine Swords aren't even your swordsmanship, why can't I watch?" Lin Heng burst into a loud scolding as soon as he saw Feng Qingyang. That was the Solitary Nine Swords, after all! To a certain extent, it was said to surpass the Six Meridians Divine Sword, an ultra-superior swordsmanship, and yet it was missed like this - it was truly extremely infuriating!

The wind was clear and bright, and he glanced at him, but didn't bother to respond. He continued to instruct Lin Huong in the "Dugu Nine Swords" technique. Lin Heng could only sit on the side, watching Lin Huong practice his swordplay intently. After a while, he found that he couldn't understand it at all, because Lin Huong's swordsmanship was almost like wild flailing, but it produced an astonishing power. He knew this must be the power of the "Total Decision" technique, but he didn't know what the "Total Decision" was.

"Despicable, despicable guy......" Lin Heng muttered to himself, getting angrier the more he thought about it, and eventually walked directly into the mountain cave, looking at the Five Mountains Sword Technique on the wall.

Dugu Jiujian, you won't let me learn it, then I'll thoroughly study the Wu Yue Swordsmanship! Lin Heng thought viciously, and then picked up a long sword to practice in the secret cave.

For over a month, Lin Heng practiced swordplay in the cave, while Linghu Chong did so outside. His progress was rapid, almost changing one style per day, which made Lin Heng feel quite unbalanced. However, he had no choice but to work even harder on his cultivation. Fortunately, he wasn't stupid and understood the realm of techniques, so after mastering those swordplay methods, he tried to randomly deconstruct them and incorporate his own Infinite Swordplay within. Only, his insight and comprehension weren't deep enough, and although he managed to come up with something after fiddling around for half a day, it still felt somewhat awkward.

Today, that old guy Feng Qingyang is finally leaving. Before he left, he threw Lin Heng the Five Mountains Sword Technique that Lin Heng had copied himself, which made him very surprised and wondering what the old man meant. But Feng Qingyang didn't intend to explain anything, ignoring both of them, turning around and disappearing into thin air.

"This old fellow..." Lin Heng was about to scold, but Linghu Chong immediately said: "Brother Lin, although Taishifu has offended you, there's no need to be so angry."

"Hmph!" Lin Heng snorted, saying: "You've benefited from this, of course you'd speak up for him. But this old guy, as a senior and a superior being, actually took advantage of me without giving anything in return, and even passed on the Du Gu Nine Swords to me... Ugh..."

Linghu Chong heard this and smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to respond. Fortunately, at this moment, footsteps came from the mountain below, and someone ran while panting: "Big Brother Master... Big Brother Master, something is wrong!"

"What's wrong? What happened to Little Sister?" This Linghu Cong fellow, his brain is filled with nothing but Yue Lingshan.

Lin Heng shook his head, and before Lu Dahu saw him, he immediately clasped his fists in respect to Linghu Chong: "Brother Linghu, we've gotten along well for a month, but I have something else to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

Linghu Cong absent-mindedly responded with a grunt, his heart completely hanging on Little Martial Sister. Seeing this, Lin Heng also stopped talking and immediately flashed his body to dodge Lu Dahai before quickly heading down the mountain.

Coming to Mount Hua once, Lin Heng's gain was not bad, but if he really wanted to say it, he didn't get the greatest gain. Dugu Jiujian, you have become a pain in my heart!

With a displeased face, he muttered to himself for two sentences. Lin Heng heard the noise again and immediately dodged to one side. On the mountain path, six figures were chattering and quarreling, then quickly walked past. As soon as Lin Heng saw these six weirdos, he knew that they must be the Taogu Six Immortals.

"Lang Hu brother, you little brat learned the Dugu Nine Swords, you should suffer a bit, don't blame your brother for not helping you!" With a sneer, Lin Heng's body pounced forward and quickly swept down to Mount Hua.
