Rebirth of the Starry Night Sky
After everyone had left, Old Lady Yun also came out of the kitchen after cleaning up.
"You take Ranyan first, I'll go finish sewing the last bit of clothes for her." As she said that, she hugged Yun Qingran and kissed her face before handing her back to Old Master Yun.
The old man's face, which had been expressionless just a moment before, suddenly lit up with a warm smile as he looked at Yun Qingran. "Little one, Grandpa is going to teach you how to read characters, okay?"
When Yun Qing heard this, her eyes lit up and she smiled brightly, affectionately wiping a bit of saliva on Old Master Yun's face. She was worried about how to make people realize her "intelligence" in order to prepare for future events.
"Heh heh, little darling really loves learning. Grandpa will definitely teach you everything I know." Cloud Old Man hummed a tune as he walked towards the study, feeling delighted in his heart. My little darling rarely shows affection to others, yet she actually gave me a kiss.
At the door, Yun Xiangfei, who was preparing to go in and find Old Master Yun, had a twitching face due to his facial paralysis. He hid behind the door and watched as the two of them walked by, even forgetting what he wanted to ask himself. Was this really their own father, who always had a stern expression? He had actually become so... childish.
Yun Qingran had never been to the study before, and as soon as she entered, she saw that one side and the middle of the wall were filled with two shelves of books, mostly medical books on traditional Chinese medicine, and a few Western anatomy books. The other side of the wall was empty except for a few calligraphy paintings. In the center of the room, there was a large, heavy wooden desk in a rectangular shape, on which pens, ink, paper, and inkstones were neatly arranged.
Yun Lao Ye Zi hugged Yun Qing Ran and walked to the bookshelf, pulled out a book from the bookshelf, took it to the desk, sat down, and spread the book open on the table.
Yun glanced at the title of the book, huh, Three Character Classic, still written with a brush. Is she going to start learning from this? She had a feeling of being blown about in the wind, but she could say that she recognized all these characters. Can't you just give me a book and let me read it myself? So she could only suffer spiritual torment here.
"Come, little one. Grandpa will teach you to recognize the characters on this page first." As he spoke, Old Master Yun opened the book and pointed to each character, reciting: "Rén (person), zhī (of), chū (initial), xìng (nature), běn (originally), shàn (good)."
Yun Qingran's eyes followed Old Master Yun as he walked, her mind had already wandered off to who-knows-where. Old Master Yun noticed Yun Qingran's distraction and wondered what was going on in that fox-like head of hers.
"Little one, which one is it?"
Yun Qingran hadn't yet come back to her senses, and out of conditioned reflex, she stretched out her small fingers to point at a certain character in the book.
"What's this?" Old Master Yun narrowed his eyes and smiled with a hint of profundity.
"... " someone who hadn't reacted yet pointed at those words without hesitation.
"Haha!" Old Man Yun laughed, finally bringing Cloud Light back to her senses. "Little one, from now on, Grandpa will teach you 20 words every day, and if you can't recognize them the next day, Grandpa will spank your bottom!" After saying that, he burst into loud laughter again.
What's going on? Did something happen when she was distracted just now? Yun Qingran was completely bewildered and couldn't understand the situation at all, nor did she know that her unconscious action had caught the attention of Old Man Yun.
From then on, every morning, Cloud Old Master would unyieldingly teach Cloud Light twenty new characters, review the previous day's characters, and gradually increase to thirty, forty, until eventually almost all recognizable characters were learned. He would also randomly test her on previously studied characters. After studying characters, Cloud Old Master would share some knowledge about carving with Cloud Light, sometimes using wood or stone to carve small objects for her to see. Thus, Cloud Light repeated this routine day after day.
Time flies, and it's already August. Under Yun Qingran's elixir treatment, the physical condition of the entire Yun family has been getting better and better. The drinking water in the water tank at home was also quietly replaced by her with spring water from space.
In the past few months, Yun Qingran had been following Master Cloud, listening to him talk about carving, whether it was techniques, schools of thought, or the historical legends of carving. Later, when he had almost finished teaching him characters, Master Cloud began to teach Yun Qingran Tang poetry and Song lyrics. With Yun Qingran's remarkable memory, which allowed him to remember everything he heard, he memorized all of them. Of course, only Master Cloud knew about this; the rest of the family thought that Master Cloud was simply reciting these to Yun Qingran for his own amusement.
At the age of six, Yun Qing suddenly called out "Grandpa" in the study room, startling Old Master Yun. Afterwards, he was overjoyed. However, Old Master Yun told Yun Qing not to speak outside of the study room, and after such a long time, he believed that Yun Qing could understand what he said. Yun Qing also never spoke outside of the study room, understanding Old Master Yun's concerns, just like how Old Master Yun didn't tell others that she was literate. When someone is a bit too clever, people think they're a genius; if it goes too far, people think they're a monster. In this era where superstition is still quite prevalent, one can't help but be cautious about this.
"Mom!" Yun Qingran got out of bed and, as usual, gave Yun Xi a sweet smile and called out to her in a soft voice. Yesterday, the doctor told her that she could start speaking again.
As expected, Yun Xi's face was shocked, and then he became happy. "Baby, come call out again."
"Mom! Mom! Mom!" Yun Qingran shouted three times in a row.
"Let's go tell Grandma and Grandpa that the baby can talk now." Yun Xi quickly helped Yun Qingran put on her clothes, as March was still quite chilly.
"Grandpa! Grandma!" Yun Qingran exclaimed as soon as she saw Grandfather and Grandmother Yun in the living room, her voice soft and gentle, a little unclear.
"Ah, my little darling." Upon hearing this voice, Old Lady Yun was perplexed for a moment, until she saw Yun Qingran being carried out by Yun Xi, at which point she became overjoyed.
"Grandma." In Yun's old lady's arms, Yun called out sweetly and gently.
"My little darling is so clever and can already talk."
"Come, come, sit down and eat first." Cloud Old Master calmly let everyone sit down. For the past two months, Yun Qingran had been following him to study every day, so she could hear her speak every day. Not to mention speaking, she could recite all 300 Tang poems clearly and fluently.
"Really? Call him Dry Dad." Chen Chen didn't know if Yun Qingran would agree or not, so she said tentatively.
"Uncle Gan." Yun Qingran smiled brightly and sweetly called out.
"Heh heh, good boy!" Happiness came too suddenly, Chen Chen could only foolishly smile.
"Grandma, I'm hungry, want to eat rice." Seeing Chen Chen stunned, Yun Qingran no longer paid attention to him, pointing at the breakfast specially made for her on the table in Grandma Yun's arms.
Now, the people at the table were frightened again. Who has ever seen a child speak for the first time and be able to say one sentence after another smoothly? Being able to say two different words in a row is already quite good.
"Our baby is one of those child prodigies people talk about outside." Yun Xi said after a moment's thought.
"It should be." Although it's a possible phrase, Master Yun's tone was very affirmative. For the past half year, his heart had been racing with fear, wasn't it?
Yun Lao Tai Tai's mind was stirred, her own precious granddaughter was so clever, as her successor she should be able to do it. She hadn't found anyone yet, the skills of their school couldn't be cut off in her hands.
"Hey little one, don't you think the flowers on the little clothes grandma made for you are pretty?"
"How lovely!" As a child with an adult's soul, he should have known what Old Lady Yun was thinking, but he still went along with her words.
"That little cutie wants to learn, and later can put her favorite flowers on her clothes." Yun old lady said with a coaxing tone.
"Great, great!" She had this intention, and her grandmother's skills have been around for a long time. Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away early. Now it's possible to learn from her grandmother and pass on the legacy. In the past, it wasn't possible for her mother to inherit, but Yun Xi is only good at making clothes, and embroidery is just average.
From then on, Yun Qing added another task, learning embroidery from Old Lady Yun every afternoon.
