The Forty-Ninth Chapter: Kunpeng Receives Disciples Jingwei
After getting the hint from Kunpeng, Wudao quickly found the girl who had transformed into Jingwei in the East Sea. What made him feel difficult was that Jingwei's resentment was too heavy, and Wudao couldn't communicate with her or take her back to Beiming Lake. Helplessly, he could only return to Beiming Lake and inform Kunpeng of the details.
Kunpeng returned to the North Ming Sea with a pleasant mood after getting the permission of Hou Tu Niangniang. The pre-heavenly treasure in Kunpeng's hand during the last witch war had already taken shape, and his own evil thoughts had also been completely integrated into the pre-heavenly treasure. The time for Kunpeng to behead the evil corpse was ripe. After returning to the North Ming Sea, he prepared to behead the evil corpse.
Wudao found the girl, but didn't bring her back. This was within Kunpeng's expectations. When Wudao returned, he handed over the precious "Pangu Ding" to Wudao, telling him to return to the East Sea and put Jingwei's transformed spirit into the cauldron to bring her back.
He didn't quite understand why Kunpeng hadn't directly given him the 'Pangu Cauldron' last time, so he could have avoided all this back-and-forth running around. So he asked: "Master, why didn't you give me the 'Pangu Cauldron' at the same time? I could have brought Female Disciple back with me then?"
Kunpeng sighed: "Wudao, things are not as simple as you think. The 'Pangu Ding' is the most precious treasure of the post-heavenly merit, and when I was fighting with Donghuang Taiyi, it had already been exposed in front of all the saints, which caught their attention. Sanqing and Jieyin are easy to deal with, they won't take advantage of you to snatch the 'Pangu Ding' from your hands, but Nüwa has a grudge against me, she doesn't have a spiritual treasure to suppress her aura, seeing this ding will definitely move her heart, whether she will make a move or not, I dare not confirm. And Zhunti, one of the two saints in the West, is very shameless, he can't snatch this ding from my hands, if he sees you carrying it around, he will definitely make a move to seize this precious ding. That's why last time, I didn't dare to give it to you directly."
Wu Dao was shocked to hear Kun Peng's words and said, "Master, Zhun Ti is a sage, he won't really use his greatness to bully someone as insignificant as me, will he?"
Kunpeng sighed: "The saint is not dead or destroyed, the struggle is just the great teaching of Qi Yun. Buddhism has no innate treasure to suppress Qi Yun, so it is naturally weaker than the three major sects established by Sanqing. The 'Pangu Ding' is a post-heavenly merit treasure that is not weak in suppressing Qi Yun compared to the innate treasure. Zhunti, as a saint, will not care about his own face in this situation. You will slowly understand Zhunti's character later, and you will know whether what I said today is correct or not. Now, go early and return early, bring the girl back early, and I can also recover her divine consciousness early."
Although Wu Dao didn't quite agree with Kun Peng's words, he was a loyal person and still followed Kun Peng's words carefully to the East China Sea again. After finding the Jingwei bird where the girl had transformed into, he quickly released the 'Pangu Ding' and put the girl into the cauldron. Then, he rushed all the way back to the North Ming Sea before the other saints could react.
The actions of Kunpeng made all the saints feel somewhat unexpected, they didn't understand why Kunpeng, who was originally safe from calamity, would take such a risk alone. Although this calamity wasn't very dangerous, entering it still meant being entangled in karma. Before becoming a saint, everyone hoped to avoid karma, and Kunpeng's actions were truly beyond their expectations.
If it is said that Kunpeng is for the sake of humanity's luck, many saints would find it hard to believe. After all, Kunpeng itself has not attained enlightenment or established a great teaching. It has been guarding humanity for so long and has accumulated enough luck and merit to protect itself and its disciples. There is no need for it to join in the struggle for humanity's luck again, which would harm many saints. In fact, they never thought that Kunpeng did this mainly to obtain the two great merits of creating money and measurement before Xuan Yuan became the human emperor, so that Tian Jiao could not get more luck and merit from Xuan Yuan. Since Shen Nong did not worship any saint as a teacher, the merit he obtained belonged purely to humanity. During Shen Nong's reign as the human emperor, Kunpeng promoted the use of currency and measurement, which not only earned him infinite merit but also allowed him to gain a thread of humanity's luck. This can be said to be a double gain, which will be of great help to his future attainment of enlightenment.
Kunpeng knew that Shennong would soon achieve great merit, so he had to speed up his pace to prevent unnecessary branches from growing and allowing the Tianjiao to take advantage of it. In order to make Nvwu recover her senses as soon as possible, Kunpeng spent a lot of money using the acquired treasure "Pangu Ding" in conjunction with great merit to cleanse Nvwu's mind. Soon after, Nvwu recovered her senses. However, this method is only suitable for people with great merit like Kunpeng.
Although the girl had regained her senses, she had already transformed into a demon and was no longer human, unless she was willing to be reincarnated. The girl quickly regained her composure and recognized that the one who had saved her was actually Saint Peng of the Human Tribe. She hastily stepped forward to pay her respects and said: "Girl, thank you, Saint Peng, for saving me."
"Girl, I've already discussed your matter with your father," said Kun Peng with a smile. "I'd like to take you on as my apprentice, and your father has agreed. Are you willing to accept me as your master?"
The girl said respectfully: "I am willing, it is my good fortune to worship the Holy Master as a teacher."
Kun Peng smiled and said: "You agree that's good. The name 'Nv Wa' is similar to the saintly Nv Wa, why don't you just call her Jing Wei instead? What do you think?"
The girl said: "From now on, I'll do everything according to the teacher's arrangement and be called Jingwei. I wonder if the teacher can let Jingwei go home and see her parents, so they won't worry about Jingwei."
"Jade, you have such a filial heart, I'm delighted," said Kun Peng. "After I've passed on the Taoist teachings to you, you can return with your eldest senior brother Wu Dao to see your father, the Emperor. It just so happens that I need his help with something."
Jingwei hastily said: "Thank you, Master, for your kindness. I have a deep grudge against the East Sea Dragon Clan, may I go and take revenge?"
Kunpeng shook his head and said, "Jingwei, the third son of the East Sea Dragon Clan has a deadly feud with you, which can be described as a deep-seated hatred. However, at this time, the dragon clan's fortune is quite prosperous, and if you go to take revenge now, it will definitely bring unnecessary disaster to the human race. Your master does not agree with your decision to take revenge at this time."
Jingwei felt a sense of helplessness in her heart upon hearing Kunpeng's words. Seeing this, Kunpeng continued: "Jingwei, don't rush to take revenge. This matter has been calculated by your master long ago. Now the heavenly numbers are on the side of humanity, but the actions of the third prince of the East Sea Dragon Clan go against the heavenly numbers. He will eventually suffer a calamity and turn to dust when the great calamity arrives. If you take revenge now, although you'll alleviate your hatred, you'll also form a karmic connection with the dragon clan. When the great calamity comes, it's inevitable that you'll be reborn in the mortal world. This won't bring you any benefit, so I advise you to put aside your hatred for now and wait for the third prince of the dragon clan to suffer his own calamity."
Jingwei listened to Kunpeng's explanation and understood that as the princess of the human tribe, she couldn't let her personal affairs affect the human tribe. So she accepted Kunpeng's words and waited for the third prince of the dragon tribe to meet his doom. Although she wasn't a cultivator and didn't understand the concept of karma affecting cultivators, she trusted Kunpeng absolutely, so he was able to quickly dissuade Jingwei from her desire for revenge.
Jingwei first entered Kunpeng's door, and Kunpeng, as his teacher, bestowed upon him a spiritual treasure. He saw Kunpeng stretch out his hand and summon a ten-product Xuan water black lotus, which flew into his hands. "Jingwei, you have just entered my door, your cultivation is low, so I will give you the pre-heavenly spiritual treasure 'Xuan Water Black Lotus' to protect yourself," he said. "At this time in the vast expanse of the universe, all the great gods are closing their doors and cultivating, so having this treasure to protect yourself, as long as you don't encounter a superior being, your life will be worry-free."
Jing Wei had heard of the preciousness of the Pre-Heaven Spirit Treasure as a princess of the human tribe, and hurriedly stepped forward to say: "Disciple thanks Master for bestowing treasure."
Kunpeng smiled and said, "Lingbao is good, but don't waste your own cultivation. You and Wudao go see your father, the Emperor, and do two things for me. Firstly, with the prosperity of the human race, bartering has restricted their development. I have thought deeply about this and come up with a solution - currency, or money. If it can circulate among humans, it will bring convenience to them. When buying and selling, problems with quantities of goods will arise, and that's when measuring instruments are needed. This is the second task I want you two to do, to promote the use of measuring instruments. These two tasks are crucial for human development, so you both must work hard. Wudao, on your journey to see the Emperor, assist him in promoting currency. Jingwei, as a woman with a meticulous mind, assist your father in implementing the measurement system."
At this time, Wudao asked: "Teacher, now there are many saints' disciples among the human race who preach and teach the law. If they come forward to stop us from implementing these currency and measurement laws, what should we do?"
Kun Peng smiled and said, "Wu Dao, it's not that I'm saying you're old-fashioned, but you're indeed too honest. I told you to find the Human Emperor precisely to prevent this kind of situation from happening. If a saint's disciple tries to stop you, then just go find the Human Emperor directly and let him handle it. As long as the Human Emperor is present, they won't dare to stop you either. Otherwise, if they offend the Human Emperor, it will be very difficult for them to spread their teachings again."
Upon hearing the explanation of the Kunpeng, it immediately became clear why the Kunpeng had to wait until Jingwei was rescued before letting him go to the human tribe to promote these two methods. All of this was done to prevent excessive interference from the disciples of the Sage. With the support of the Human Emperor, the human tribe would follow the orders of the Human Emperor and wholeheartedly promote the currency and measurement system. The disciples of the Sage would not harm the Human Emperor for such trivial matters, affecting their own great undertaking of spreading the teachings. In this way, these two things would be smoothly promoted among the human tribe, and boundless merits would become within reach.
