Caleb raised an eyebrow because so far this Bryan is not only fluent in speaking their nguage but also he's deeply aware of their old traditions, a guest bearing gifts is considered rude if they don't taste their own with the host.
Eating raw meat is one of the most famous habits of Sandarions, adding their own rock-salt which is their own specialty plus sprinkling the grounded dried roots to spice them up is something only citizens of this Kingdom would do.
"This is the meat from the stock of our government's warehouses," Bryan took the small knife and cut the two sps in half before handing it back to the woman who gave it to him because she was standing next to him as if she'd jump in front of him to protect the thirteenth Prince if he dared to make any move, "This however, is fresh out from the meat processing factory I own while the animals were raised in my farmnd so expect the taste to be premium your highness." He sprinkled the salt then took the powder of the dried roots from the jar and smeared it on the four pieces before offering them to the host so Caleb would choose the ones he'd like to try.
Once again Caleb was confused by this fellow's serene behavior as if he's not worried at all if the deal would be successful between them.
Indeed Bryan took his meat and started to chew on it, he wasn't used to eating raw meat but the taste was unique thanks to the salt and the special spice which is rare to find anywhere in the world outside this Kingdom.
He still trusted his strong jaw and indeed the whole thing became so juicy once his teeth and mors minced whatever entered his mouth.
Caleb took a bite from the meat which is provided by Tiana and issued by the government and twisted his lips because the taste was borderline horrible but the natives of his Kingdom wouldn't hesitate to buy it from the markets if there's a food shortage!
Not to mention that it's still raw and once it's cooked and supplied with the right spices and ingredients it'd be fine and edible so there's no compint from him, especially when citizens from Bryan's Narren Country who have access to much better products would normally buy meat products issued by their own government without voicing a single compint about the quality... Beggars can't be choosers after all so the thirteenth Prince put the piece of meat aside and took the other one which Bryan mentioned that it's "Premium" quality.
Honestly Caleb wasn't believing these cims from his guest and thought Bryan was overhyping his own products since the ones issued by the Narren government is shit anyway but, once he sank his teeth in the piece of meat in his hand it was like he was tasting something befitting his royal status as a Prince... Maybe for the first time ever.
The fibers were just right, the taste was just perfect, the experience was just worth it... The cims were absolutely founded.
"Anaya, Aislinn... Come have a taste of this," Caleb gestured for his two dies while licking his lips as if he want to have more than just a couple bites, "This really is premium meat, you say you've raised these animals yourself?" The thirteenth Prince asked while smiling after seeing the eyes of his women brighten after sharing the final piece.
Bryan nodded before expining : "Your highness. Let me make this point clear first before I say anything else, I don't know how to raise anything, not really... Not even my own children!" Afterwards he added : "I just hired the right people and spent a lot of money to build a massive farm on my nd, I'm better suited to making business deals, I guess... I hope so."
Aislinn and Anaya rolled their eyes at this guy who's trying so hard to make it seem like he doesn't have any confidence at all but he's not making it convincing at all.
The thirteenth Prince was amused but he ignored this guy's attempt to humor him and opened his mouth to say : "Then let's talk business... How much can you provide us and what's the costs going to be like?"
"Since I'm going to be taking care of smuggling everything through the borders between your Kingdom and the Sandaltur Country because my Narren Country sealed all trade business with your nation, and I'm also going to be taking care of the delivery on top of maintaining quality of every product including fresh supplies like vegetables, fruits, and dairy products which are easy to spoil since their shelf life is quite limited then I'd say five-times market price is fair." Bryan said before pausing as if to think about the matter of quantity then added : "As for how much... I believe I could make it with as much as your small market may demand in the future but I'd have to bribe a few politicians here and there which means I'm going to earn less from this transaction!" Then he continued while holding his chin as if he's talking to himself out loud : "Maybe I should've asked for six-times or seven-times market price then... Was my dy telling the truth when she said that I should bring her to this meeting?"
Caleb rolled his eyes while his two dies giggled to themselves because this fellow is really weird, he's so rexed while making a deal that the fate of a whole nation might depend on in the future.
"Five-times is so high, push the prices down a bit then we can talk quantity... Don't make me seek others to repce you." Caleb said while shaking his head.
Bryan raised an eyebrow then shrugged carelessly once again, "With all due respect your highness," He looked at the rest of the products which were in the box he emptied earlier and gestured at them, "What you're seeing here is just the tip of the iceberg of what I bring to the table, others might try to compete with me but only I can satisfy the market and... Once the people all-over your nation start to feel the strain of an economical siege it'd be a completely different scenario once they start missing more of their daily meals." After looking at the faces of the people in the tent which started to harden Bryan continued : "Bravery is the most admirable trait of the citizens of your Kingdom but hunger... True hunger is engraved too deeply in the minds of your elders and the dreadfulness of its effects were narrated to the younger generations who understand the horror it gives after depriving them of their sleep, rest, and sanity!"
Caleb squinted his eyes because right when he started to forget that he's talking with someone who's knowledgeable about the traditions of his culture... Bryan always reminds him with another piece of detail that he's not in control and this is not a negotiation.
Simply because Bryan could make his profit somewhere else where he wouldn't have to go through the trouble of extending the hand of help to the people of this Sandar Kingdom who aren't saints by any means... Especially when they justify their actions of terrorizing their closest neighbors!
"Not to mention that you guys have been dumping toxins in the river branch next to my nd and I had to pay more than a couple billions just to build a water treatment facility and a web of pipelines just to be able to irrigate my farmnd and water my livestock!" Bryan acted like he just remembered a very important detail and mentioned it while fisting his palm.
Everyone in the tent rolled their eyes at him once again because one minute he's making them tense up by say things to make the atmosphere all heavy and serious before saying something silly while acting all stupid and childish.
Caleb looked at Bryan then asked : "You only get to receive such price if you deliver the products at perfect quality to the locations we send you without dey, the price would drop if the timing is incorrect or the quality is poor or both which would cut the cost drastically... Are you sure you can deliver on your promise?"
Bryan beamed with a smile before asking slyly : "Your highness do realize that the price of government issued products and my own is also drastically different as well... You do know that right?"
The thirteenth Prince frowned because he was really distracted by everything else that he didn't think about some detail which is extremely important but he already gave his word and his royal family is already quite rich beyond normal comprehensions so... Caleb nodded while sighing inwardly because this might be the first time someone managed to disarm him with such ease.
"Then whenever and whatever you may require just send the list with a reasonable timeline and I promise to make it happen... Just forget about making me cut any prices because if the quality and timing were not met then I'd gift it to your highness for free." Bryan said before adding : "All I'm asking for is privacy, I don't like to work under watchful eyes so... give me my space to work and come get or inspect your shipment in the time of our agreement from the location of your choice."
Caleb Aagaard nodded because this request is reasonable and acceptable, especially when there's a verbal promise of him receiving free shipments of food... Of course this Bryan fellow would be forced to make a lot of gifts in the future.
The treacherous routes, extreme weather conditions, and tight schedule to make his deliveries would certainly cause him to slip many times along the way... Not to mention the many steps he need to complete before entering the borders of their Sandar Kingdom in the first pce!
