Chapter 190 : Numb

"Madam President." Bryan greeted after being escorted by an officer and four soldiers into the private territory of the army then into the armory, ever since this piece of engineering and technological marvel was constructed... This is the first time he's entering this pce which was built thanks to his own advice and pushed forward to completion thanks to his help.

He followed them and entered the hanger-looking spot which has walls that looks to be tens of meters thick built from solid concrete but from the inside the whole structure is pted with steel and supported with many crisscrossing steel pipes all the way down, Bryan was in awe by the amount of care this entrance was given by the engineers but he also didn't miss to notice that the space between these crisscrossing steel pipes which are thicker than his body... Is actually wide enough to allow a truck to enter or leave this entrance without any issue.

At the door of this hanger there was strict precautionary measures to make sure no bugs make their way inside the armory, Bryan, the officer, and the four soldiers were asked by the team guarding the entrance to enter the pressurization and sterilization rooms before changing their clothes and wearing a temporary attire... Yes temporary!

Because once they reached the second door they repeated everything once again before being allowed to wear the only clothes they'll get to wear inside the armory, whoever damage or mess this suit would be thrown into jail and be subjected to strict investigation by the military police.

After crossing the second security gate and taking the elevator to go down one level which is more than one-hundred and forty meters high from floor to ceiling, Bryan finally got to see the amount of tanks and military vehicles plus the people inside this armory... Or at least the first level.

The following two levels were just as massive but everything was in big wooden boxes with numbers and initials of different colors, each stack was all the way up to the ceiling.

The fourth level looks like the living space of all the soldiers, low, and mid-rank officers and it looked... A bit crammed and stuffy but these soldiers didn't seem dissatisfied because they're aware of what's going outside this safe armory which is surrounding by high walls and does have extra means of securities outside these walls.

Most of them lost their families and loved ones to the Zombies which is why they've been focusing on exterminating that threat whenever they went outside on a mission to scout or patrol the surrounding territory, the ones who entered the outskirts of the nearby city spoke of the horrors they witnessed and some of them even helped survivors escape that living nightmare and come join this community but the scar these civilians experienced to their mentality and psyche is for life as it'd seem... Now these soldiers seek to help their comrades survive, protect others, or just revenge against this threat which endangers their existence so... Stuffy or crammed is the least of their worries.

The fifth level is clearly the living space of the high-rank and top-commanding officers judging by how spacious it's around here and the extra green where little children and their families are enjoying when he passed the slightly narrow streets between these residences.

The sixth level is the command center and as expected from this pce it fit the image of the military perfectly, simple and efficient.

The amount of communication devices was massive and there on the wall was a huge amount of screens dispying different parts of the world thanks to the few military satellites which are still functioning perfectly, two of those were unched a few months ago thanks to the generous funding of their friends in the Sandar Kingdom... Any one-star general worth his salt in the military is aware of the source of all that money which kept flowing into their Narren Country for the st year and half or so!

At the center of this floor there's this office which is surrounded by invisible gss and in front of the office there's a long table, people of the military call it the conference room but, ever since Tiana was forcefully dragged from her original office in the Presidential Pace in the Capital-City by Anna and brought to this safe and secure location... The five-star general who's one of Tiana's most loyal supporters and that's why he received the authority and responsibility of taking command of such a sensitive armory which is newly built and stocked with brand-new weapons and war machines of the best quality in the market... He "Politely" requested that Bryan give them the President which he did while rolling his eyes because it's never his intention to keep the woman to begin with.

Bryan was invited by the officer escorting him to enter the conference room once Tiana eagerly gestured for him to get in as soon as she and the dozen of generals and a couple dozen more high-ranking officer saw him approach.

"Sit." Tiana gestured for the empty seat right next to her on the left and Bryan nodded towards the men and women in the room while making his way to sit next to her.

"These... Idiots!" Bryan who just sat down immediately stood up and during his moment of frustration he was very tempted to hammer-fist the table in front of him and was that very close to actually making it happen.

The military people in the room were suddenly on edge and some of them even put their hands on their side-arms by pure reflex once they sensed the atmosphere inside the room suddenly filled with rage and hate plus thick and heavy bloodlust!

Bryan might appear like no more than a tall and handsome civilian, a person like that could be easily subdued and contained by any soldier after receiving their entry training but... Besides being a mysterious character which somehow already knew about the danger that has struck the world long before it happened... A couple of years or so.

The teams of soldiers manning the walls told tales of his actions outside the walls when he dug the canyon surrounding the walls from the east and west almost completely but not entirely because for some reason it didn't seem like it's Bryan's wish to completely flood the massive trench he dug with water from the river branch, he also left both sides of the highway to the south undug but heavily fortified them with traps, obstacles, and barbed wire fences which made it less stressful for their teams of guards to keep watching that area of the highway... Especially when the surrounding terrain is always brightly lit thanks to the extreme amounts of spotlights making the surrounding in a fan shape visible for a few kilometers.

There's even videos of him tossing rocks weighing ten tons from the depth of the canyon he dug which is at least sixty meters or so, the scene is just that... Ridiculous!

The dust cloud was so big and the faint vibrations it caused travelled all the way to the top of the walls and everything was confirmed by the machines at this floor which kept picking up small signs of an earthquake from the exact locations that man was working his silly miracles.

Having such a freak going on a rampage in their most sensitive command center is just the worst case scenario.

"What's done is done! We need to think about what we're going to do next to survive this crisis." Tiana closed her eyes and said that before opening them while adding : "I believe it's time you tell us what to expect from this, you kept urging me to warn all the leaders not to use Nuclear weapons to exterminate the Zombie infestations within the biggest cities." Then she looked up at Bryan who was staring down at the screen of the device which showed a country in the nearby continent which is linked to their own by nd then continued to ask : "Why?"

  *Sigh*

Bryan released a deep sigh before sitting down and looking at the faces of the men and women in military attires in the conference room then nodded apologetically because his earlier outburst must've been an embarrassing sight to witness but he couldn't be more wrong... These people were downright intimidated by him and some of them would've shot at him if he wasn't standing right next to their Madam President herself.

  "Mutation."

"W-what do you mean mutation?" The old general with the highest authority asked after gulping a mouthful of saliva because if such a freak of nature is so anxious then they should probably be shitting their pants right now.

Bryan closed his eyes and narrated the information which Linnet gave him, "High thermal energy might've exterminated 50%~60% of the Zombies at the immediate site where that Nuclear weapon nded and the shockwave crushed 20%~30% of the rest within the bst radius but, the problem is the cause it have of the ones who don't get terminated and the mutation they experience after having their bodies soaked in all of that primary radiation hazard," He looked at the worried, panicked, and frightened faces around him in the conference room and understood their feelings because he could rete with these emotions now that he has a big family and tender young kids which he wish to protect from that danger, "Usually the ones who get turned into Zombies are slow, awkward, and could barely walk until months pass then only then could they not drag their feet with every step so... Most civilians could avoid getting caught in spacious pces or by climbing to locations beyond the reach of the hands of the Zombies." After giving his small audience to process this information Bryan added : "They're mostly blind or severely shortsighted for the first few months and could sense the other Zombies in their surroundings, which is why they tend to gather in groups that start small and grow bigger because together they could widen their sensory range and improve their mobility but... Mostly this cause them to move slower whenever the group get entangled and that always end up with the loss of a few members who get mutited or crushed beneath the weight of all the fallen bodies." Once again he gave them a brief pause before continuing : "During this stage it's the best opportunity for us who survived the initial outbreak to do something to lower the numbers of Zombies walking the surface of earth before their first major sense is developed... Hearing.

"There's many survivors still living in the many cities, towns, and vilges of this world but they're trapped in small safe pockets within rge circles infested with Zombies... They're unable to leave and are stranded there with whatever small amount of supplies they managed to get their hands on during the chaos.

"For now they're safe because these Zombies can't hear them, but once they do then it's game over however... That bubble of Nuclear Radiation is like "Food For Thoughts" literally for the Zombies who're going to survive and the ones who stumble on this great discovery would also become startlingly different compared to anything you and I might call a normal Zombie in the future." Bryan stopped talking but the only sound in this conference room was the sound of irregur and nervous breathing.

Tiana looked at Bryan before asking : "What are you going to do?" Which caused all eyes to brighten while looking towards him.

"Clean up the city first and get all the survivors out as quickly as possible, create multiple yers of fortifications around it and be on constant alert while making sure our troops are well-rested, well-fed, well-trained, well-supplied, and well-everything then hope for the best while fighting like hell against whatever that may come our way... Time for these soldiers to get a taste of what it means to be strong enough to carry the burden of protecting what might be the st of humanity." Bryan said while thinking about the effects that Nuclear explosion is going to have on their territory.

"Jack, see to it that all preparations are done... We can't have Bryan do everything for us." Tiana looked at the Five-Star General and said so before adding : "I'm sure he's going to take care of supplying the troops in the armory with all the right ingredients to boost their strength and have the experts pay visits during their training hours to teach them all the necessary techniques to perfect their methods of terminating the Zombies on our nd."

The old man nodded before looking at the high-ranked officer behind him and saying : "I'll leave the logistics to you Octavia."

"On it General Morgan." The female officer saluted before leaving the conference room with two more male officers.

General Morgan looked at one of the One-Star Generals and opened his mouth to say : "Arlo, pn the entry, exit, and emergency routes for our troops and consult with Bryan about which methods to use during the purge of the city... Get every detail."

"Yes Sir." The middle-aged man looked at Bryan and waited.
