Chapter 31: The Devils Game 5

  Chapter 31: The Devil's Game (5)

The dense forest, where insects were chirping and birds were singing, suddenly fell silent. All that could be heard was the soft rustling of tree tops being swept by the cold wind. A moment later, the wind stopped abruptly, and the swaying leaves also came to an eerie stillness.

The whole world fell silent in an instant, eerily still like the deep mountains and old forests where ferocious birds and beasts discover their prey, the last calm before they pounce, this tranquility exuding a sense of danger and death that makes one's hair stand on end.

  Bang!

A crisp and ear-piercing gunshot broke the silence, followed by a series of continuous shots.

Su Jingya heard that the time for free running had arrived, and next was their turn to hide and dodge bullets. The gunshot meant: Huangfu Yu and two special soldiers had discovered the escapees, and someone had been hit.

She ran forward with all her might, regardless of whether the thorny branches would scratch her exposed skin, she just kept running towards a hidden place.

No matter what, she had to hold on until the last one, and then openly stay by his side.

But she wasn't sure how long she would stay by his side, a day, a month, a year, or a lifetime?

The dense forest had a low temperature, the air was humid, but Su Jingya was sweating all over. The sweat and mist mixed together, wetting her camouflage uniform, tightly wrapping around her slender and weak body, making her protruding belly even more noticeable.

Although she ran desperately, Su Jingya carefully protected her belly. After all, this was her and Huanhuan's first child.

The consequences of running like one's life depended on it are: dizziness, dry mouth and tongue, and weak legs.

Su Jingya's legs buckled and she fell to her knees, the kneecaps hitting the ground covered with gravel and twigs, causing a sharp pain.

She was severely exhausted and wanted to find a place to rest, but then she thought: if she rested now, Huangfu Yu might catch up.

She gritted her teeth and tried to get up, supporting herself with the tree trunk beside her. However, as soon as her hands touched the bark, she felt a sharp pain in her palms and let out a low cry. Opening her hands, she only then discovered that during her escape, when she used her hands to pull away the branches and vines blocking her path, they had been scratched and were now bleeding.

She carefully blew on her wound and looked around: she was at a crossroads.

Across is a straight road, the left one is going up the mountain, and the right one is going down the mountain.

With a clear distinction between black and white, her big eyes turned around, she immediately got up, rushed to the small road leading down the mountain, used her feet to push the weeds on the side of the road in one direction, then tore off a small amount of fiber from her clothes and hung it on more conspicuous branches. After doing everything, she ran forward along the straight road on the opposite side.

Ten minutes later, a pair of shiny black military boots appeared here.

Sometimes, Huangfu Yu had to admit that Su Jingya was a very intelligent woman, but she didn't know what it meant: "Intelligence can be a curse."

He glanced casually at the three roads, his gaze finally falling on the small path leading down the mountain, a sly and seductive smile spreading across his thin lips.

His gaze swept to a clump of grass two hundred meters away, which was shaking violently. He narrowed his eyes, shouldered the sniper rifle, and found it wasn't Su Jingya. Without hesitation, he pulled the trigger, bang!, the bullet flew out, followed by a mournful howl from a dying prisoner.

"This is Sniper 7 (8), over."

He hooked the corner of his mouth, and so far he had shot 9 death row prisoners. Before acting, he had allocated them well. When there were more than 10 special soldiers, he would stop, and his task was 10 death row prisoners plus one Su Jingya.

Now he has two more people.

Su Jingya, will she be the last one?
