Chapter 105: Preparing for the Trial 3

Borman promptly emerged from the backstage and approached Guinevere and her entourage. Evidently, he had not anticipated the sudden arrival of Her Highness and her companions at the Adventurer's Guild.

"Your Highness Guinevere, I deeply apologize. The Guild Master accompanied Viscount Briffin to the Forgotten Forest to hunt down monsters today. If you have any matters, please feel free to state them, and I will immediately convey them to the Guild Master upon his return," Borman first bowed deferentially and then spoke with great respect.

The knight furrowed his brows and then turned to Guinevere, saying,"Your Highness, time is pressing. It would be advisable for us to depart without delay."

Guinevere remained silent throughout, yet her eyes were fixed in one direction. After waiting for a while, the knight sensed something amiss. Following Guinevere's gaze, he saw that she was staring at another girl.

  It was Tia.

"A vampire?" The knight was initially startled, and then he noticed the Mark of Devotion on the vampire's hand.

"I seem to recall hearing that during the Holy Blessing Day, a descendant of the royal family tainted by darkness appeared in the cathedral. Could this be that very girl?" The archer behind the knight couldn't help but murmur softly.

Guinevere remained silent and instead advanced step by step towards Tia. Tia offered a gentle smile and then executed a highly standard royal etiquette towards Guinevere.

Guinevere's eyes lit up, and she suddenly extended her hand towards Tia."Hello. I am Guinevere."

This unexpected gesture surprised everyone. No one had expected that Her Highness, the esteemed princess, would show interest in a member of the dark race.

"I'm Tia," Tia replied with a sweet smile.

Kenley stood still, casting glances to the left and right but remaining silent. He was eager to observe how the situation would unfold.

"I have heard Bishop Michael mention you, Your Highness Tia. The sacrifices made by the royal family of Gaifei on the East Coast are such that even in the distant Western Cloister, the glory of your songs and battles can still be heard," Guinevere said. Upon hearing these words, Tia's eyes instantly welled up with tears.

Her eyes were filled with a complex blend of emotions, including sorrow, relief, and gratitude: Father, Mother, it seems our story is still being sung by the world, and not everyone has forgotten us.

Tia sniffled slightly and replied,"Thank you, Your Highness, for your kind words of comfort. However, I am no longer a princess of the royal family. Having been invaded by darkness, I have long since lost the blessing of the Song of Life."

Guinevere's eyes flickered, and she naturally noticed the slave collar around Tia's neck. A trace of confusion flashed in her eyes. Subsequently, she shifted her gaze to Kenley, as if she had discerned something.

  Just then, Guinevere suddenly smiled!

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

"It appears that you, Your Highness Tia, have found an excellent master."

Kenley was jolted. Had Guinevere perceived something?

Upon seeing Guinevere's smile, all of her companions who had accompanied her wore expressions of incredulity. This was the first time they had ever seen Guinevere smile! It was particularly memorable that Guinevere had never smiled in their presence, at least as far as their memories served.

Well, after all, as a princess wearing the Crown of the Holy World and possessing exceptional magical talent, it was not surprising that she could perceive certain things.

"Mm! I think so too," Tia said, following Guinevere's gaze and casting a glance back at Kenley.

"Your Highness, time is of the essence," the knight beside her couldn't help but remind.

Guinevere nodded and then turned to Borman and asked,"Has the Guild Master not found a suitable candidate?"

Borman immediately replied,"In fact, there is already a candidate, but... but..."

"But what?" The knight furrowed his brows.

"It's a fourth - rank quest, and the other party is unwilling to accept it," Borman replied with some difficulty, stealing a glance at Kenley.

"With such a generous reward, yet they still refused. Truly an extraordinary person," the knight said, slightly taken aback.

Upon hearing this, Kenley seemed to understand something. Could this be the quest that Borman had tried to give him just now? When he heard it was a fourth - rank quest, fearing it would consume too much of his time, he had firmly declined.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to be a quest issued by Guinevere. This was truly astonishing...

"Wait a moment, Borman. Please show me the quest document you were about to give me just now," Kenley said, wanting to confirm it further.

"Certainly!" Borman's eyes brightened, and he immediately returned to the front desk and retrieved the document.

So it was a quest for the Bronze Trial. I was wondering what kind of fourth - rank quest it was. They just happened to be in need of a warrior...

Kenley flipped through the document and then held it up, asking,"Your Highness Guinevere, is this the quest you issued?"

Guinevere remained silent, but the knight beside her glanced at it."Yes, this is indeed the quest we issued. Wait a moment. Are you the warrior who refused the quest?"

Kenley smiled helplessly."I didn't expect it to be a quest for the Trial of the Bronze Citizens. Coincidentally, I also need to undertake this quest, so I will accept it."

"But you just refused it?" The knight was clearly displeased.

Guinevere spoke up at this moment."Fess, it's alright. We are pressed for time. Since the other party has agreed to take on the quest, we shall proceed together."

The Trial Quest of the Bronze Citizens was no ordinary task. At most, six people were permitted to form a team to pass the preceding tests together (Tia, as a Holy Servant, did not occupy a slot), but the final boss had to be defeated solo.

Moreover, those of the Bronze Body level or above were ineligible to participate in this quest. This might explain why Guinevere had offered a substantial sum of money to the Guild Master to find a suitable candidate.

"Your Highness, should we test this person's abilities first?" The knight clearly harbored doubts about Kenley's strength. Perhaps it was also due to Kenley's earlier refusal of their quest, which had left him somewhat irritated.

"There's no need. If the Guild Master has approved this candidate, I have no doubts. Besides, the gate of the underground labyrinth will close in approximately ten minutes, and we must hurry," Guinevere said.

"Yes, Your Highness." Knight Fess had no choice but to fall silent.

Then, Guinevere said to Borman,"Borman, could you please prepare a private room for us?"

"No problem." Borman immediately stepped forward to lead the way.

Once everyone had arrived at a relatively spacious room, Guinevere reached out and grasped a translucent, crystalline gem in mid - air, muttering incantations under her breath.

A pure white magic array suddenly materialized and was instantly drawn on the floor.

"A spatial teleportation array!" Borman exclaimed, his eyes widening in amazement. This was the first time in his life that he had ever laid eyes on a spatial teleportation array.

"Come in, everyone," Guinevere said, standing in the center of the magic array.

Everyone stepped in. Kenley and Tia exchanged a glance, and without hesitation, they followed suit.

  "Begin the teleportation!"
