Familiar ingredients
As a daughter-in-law of the Ye family, one must not only be elegant in the hall but also skilled in the kitchen, so after the art competition just now, what follows is the cooking competition.
Everyone received the same ingredients: flour, rolling pin, tomatoes, eggs, beef, scallions, ginger, garlic and various seasonings.
There are four temporary kitchens in the corner of the east wall of the banquet hall, and they are all temporarily partitioned into small rooms. Each kitchen has a door, which means that no one can see what others are cooking.
An Lan is the last one in the kitchen. She carries these ingredients and walks in, then the door is closed by the host, sixty minutes, which is an hour.
Watching the four kitchen doors being closed, Yi Yu Yan ran to her cousin Shao Yi Fu's side and couldn't help but curiously ask: "How did you know my brother likes that...that Gu An Lan?"
"When did I ever tell you that your brother likes Gu Anlan?" Shao Yifu opened his eyes wide and stared at her: "Which ear did you hear it with?"
"Then why did you let me say I liked that ugly painting?" Yi Yu became even more confused: "I don't even know the woman named Gu Anlan, why should I help her?"
"Didn't you think that painting was good-looking?" Shao Yifu gave her a glance: "You didn't also say that the portrait of the panda had an adorable expression?"
"Go, that was just a casual remark," Yi Yu Yan ignored him and instead looked at Yi Shui Han not far away, saying: "I think there must be some secret between my brother and Gu Anlan, or else why wouldn't he let her withdraw from the competition? Anyway, he won't keep her here later on, what's the difference between having one more person cooking and one less person cooking?"
"A competition should have its rules, after all." Shaw Yifu said solemnly: "If everyone is like Miss Gu, saying they want to terminate the competition in the end, where would your brother's face be?"
"Really?" Yi Yu Yan looked at Yi Shui Han with a puzzled expression, muttering to herself: "My brother didn't let her withdraw from the competition, was it really just for the sake of face?"
Shaw Yifu chose not to answer this question directly, because he didn't know what Yi Shuihan was thinking either. However, he had already sensed that something was off between Yi Shuihan and Gu Anlan at his own engagement party last week.
An Lan stood alone in the small kitchen, staring at the ingredients in front of her, her nose slightly sour, a stinging sensation spreading to her eyes, but she endured it, refusing to let tears fall.
Flour, tomatoes, eggs, how familiar the ingredients are, just like that Spring Festival six years ago, that New Year's Eve when we wrapped dumplings.
Toronto does not have a habit of celebrating Chinese New Year, only the Chinese people there celebrate it voluntarily, and Toronto will not be closed on that day.
So that day she and Yi Shuihan both had classes, after school it was already afternoon, even though they were abroad, they still remembered that today was the 30th of the Lunar New Year, they still remembered to celebrate the festival.
An Lan originally suggested going out for a meal tonight, but who knew Yi Shui Han wouldn't agree. He said he wanted to eat dumplings, it's been a long time since he had dumplings in Toronto, what a weird thought.
So they walked to the supermarket two kilometers away from their apartment, but since they went late, there were not many ingredients left. Yi Shuihan wanted to eat leek and egg dumplings, but in the end, he didn't buy any leeks, instead bought a few tomatoes.
