Journal of Insanity: The Akhasic Records read read

TLDR: Lists of different codices, basically lore dump. The Journal of Insanity is a title dedicated to recording the journeys of different characters throughout several novels and the different flavours of insanity catering to their protagonists. Rather than a fixed universe, it is a scalable setting. Due to the scalable setting, versatile narrative, and its infinite multiverses, just about any story can fit perfectly into this universe - ranging from cyberpunk style capitalist distopia to ''''dungeons and dragons'''' style pseudo-medieval fantasy. The setting draws inspiration from a great many popular titles, so familiar names and some familiar mechanisms built into the power systems are likely intentional. I have intertwined things I like with my own creations and interpretations, organized them in a mostly logical framework, and presented the setting through the perspective of different stories. There can be multiple interpretations of the same set of events in-universe. The practicality lies in being able to retcon details at a later date. However, the real reason for doing so can be stated as such. Within this setting and across many of its factions, information is considered an extremely precious resource. As such, nobody has the full picture regarding any topic and they tend to vary as perspectives change. Also, some statements can be simultaneously true, as in, ''''''''Gravity is a force of attraction that exists between any two objects with mass." "Gravity is fundamentally the curvature of spacetime caused by the presence of mass and energy." Considering all this, I deemed this necessary to prepare a countermeasure against plotholes. Akhasic Records is a journal of title-specific codices dedicated to a single faction or an in-universe event at a time that was briefly mentioned in one of the novels but not relevant enough to be discussed at length, or perhaps not even referenced at all! This strictly helps with the worldbuilding in general, without introducing a new arc or a new novel every time. If you find some of these codices meet your fancy, do let me know. The most popular ones will receive a dedicated one-off novella each, purely for fan-service reasons. (Not the ecchi stuff; there are already plenty throughout actual novels).

I wasn’t the strongest, or the smartest, or the craftiest. I had no natural talent, no real advantages and the only Title I could lay claim to was ignorance, but the last was true for everyone. It shouldn’t have mattered. It didn’t at first. But then the bodies piled up, they never stopped doing that. We got sick of it. That feeling turned into a tale of war, a tale of secret histories, a tale of crazy folks and cosmic entities – I still haven’t pieced it all together. It was brutal, it had its moments, and honestly? I had quite a bit of fun. Then again, maybe I was a little biased. So how did a bunch of nobodies, from nowhere, and starting from nothing end up here, about to make a difference? It all began with a midnight cigarette, the end of the world and a ridiculously long walk… Releases: Mon/tue/wed/thu/fri until my backlog starts to run out. As of Jan 30th, it stretches to ca. midway March.
