[IN MEESHA'S HOUSE]
"Let's watch the footage," Kira reminded, scrolling through her phone once again. As they watched, their eyes widened in shock.
"I knew it! I knew it was Paulina who switched the pills," Kira exclaimed, her voice scornful. "She even poisoned Sarah's drink. That devilish child!"
Meesha rewound the footage, her eyes scanning the scene. "Isn't that Vanessa standing over there?" she asked, pointing to the screen.
Kira glanced at the footage, nodding her head. "Yes, it's her."
Meesha turned to Kira, her brow furrowed. "Do you think she has something to do with it?"
Kira's expression was thoughtful. "We'll figure that out later. Let's just go file a lawsuit first and clear your name."
Meesha agreed, and for a moment, they both glanced at Gabriel, who sat on the rug in the living room, his fingers tapping immensely on Meesha's phone screen.
Kira heaved a sigh. "We can't bring him with us, he'll only cause trouble there."
Meesha contemplated the situation before suggesting, "Let's leave him with Xanqer."
As soon as Xanqer heard his name, his gaze snapped to Meesha, his voice low and menacing. "You want me to babysit a child?"
Meesha pouted. "Please, it's just for a few–"
Kira intervened, covering Meesha's mouth with her palm. "It's fine. We don't need you to watch over Gabriel."
Meesha tried to speak, her voice muffled against Kira's palm as she was pulled away.
When they reached the far side living room, Kira let go of Meesha. "You want me to leave my son with him?" she asked.
Meesha's expression turned skeptical. "What's wrong with him?"
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Kira spoke, her words tumbling out in a rush. "Can't you see? He's so scary. What if he tries to eat my Gabriel?" she said, her eyes darting to Xanqer.
Meesha waved off her concern with an amused chuckle. "Don't worry, he doesn't eat people."
Just then, Kira's phone buzzed with notifications, followed by an incoming call. "Kira, check your Instagram right now! The matter has already been resolved! Check it quickly!"
Meesha blinked in confusion. "It has been resolved? But we haven't even taken it to court yet."
"Just check your Instagram!" The other party urged, her voice laced with urgency.
Kira did as she was told and opened her Instagram app, while Meesha scooted closer to see. As soon as she opened the app, they were stunned to see that Vanessa had already taken the matter to court and had provided the same evidence of Paulina as the murderer.
Meesha looked at Kira, startled. "The matter has already been solved?"
Kira nodded, surprise written all over her face. "Yes, it seems so. But why would Vanessa go against Paulina to suddenly help Sarah get justice? That's so unlike her."
Meesha's eyes narrowed. "I'm sure she has something to do with it."
As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang. Meesha walked to get the door, and her eyes widened in shock as she saw a crowd of people occupying the whole lane.
No, not just the whole lane, the entire street.
Meesha was taken aback by the crowd large enough for a concert audience, her mind reeling.
Who were this people? And what were they doing here?
A young woman holding a speaker squeezed her way out of the crowd and spoke to Meesha. "Hi! I'm Helen. The leader of your fan club."
Meesha was stunned. She never knew she had had an active fan club as large as that.
Helen spoke, her eyes apologetic. "I tried to gather as much fans as I could so we can all apologize to you."
"We're so sorry, Meesha," someone shouted through the crowd.
"Yes, we're sorry. Please forgive us," Another said.
And the others murmured words of apologies.
Helen frowned at the crowd, speaking ear-piercingly into the speakerphone. "You idiots! Do you think your apology is enough for Meesha to forgive us? Let's sing the song we wrote for her."
Meesha was taken aback once again. "A song?"
Helen smiled nicely, nodding her head. "Yes," she replied before facing the crowd. "You'll all sing in the count of three! One, Two, Three. Go!"
The crowd, along with Helen, sang a song, their voices filling the air. Meesha was taken aback, unsure of how to react.
? We were blind, we were wrong ?
? We judged you without a song ?
? We didn't know the truth?
?Yeah, because we're dumb?
? Forgive us, Meesha, for our mistakes ?
? We were misled, our hearts were at stake?
? We know we can't turn back time?
? But we hope you can find it in your heart to forgive out crime ?
? We should have stood by you, through thick and thin?
? But instead, we turned our backs, and let you sink within ?
? The darkness of doubt, the pain of shame ?
?We're sorry Meesha, for playing with your flame?
? We know we cant erase the past ?
? But we hope our apology will forever last ?
? We'll stand by you now, through every test ?
? And we'll be your shield, your loyal best ?
Meesha's eyes welled up with tears as she listened to the heartfelt apology song.
Helen stepped forward, her voice apologetic. "Please, forgive us. We've said a lot of bad things about you in the past," she paused for a moment before speaking up. "I'll read the letter of apology we wrote for you."
Helen's voice trembled as she read from the letter. "Dear Meesha, we apologize for our thoughtless words and actions. We were blinded by misinformation and misled by our own biases. We realize now that we were wrong to judge you without knowing the truth."
Meesha's gaze drifted to the crowd, seeing the sincerity in their faces. She felt a lump form in her throat as Helen continued reading, her heart filled with warmth.
"If you had died, we wouldn't have been able to forgive ourselves. We would have lived with the guilt of having wronged an innocent person. We were so caught up in our own self-righteousness that we didn't stop to consider the consequences of our actions."
