Chapter Ten: The Ring and the Canvas
In the end, Leviathan the gorilla had completely abandoned the dignity of an eighth-level magical beast, and its miserable cries were filled with a pleading tone. On the ground, it was making gestures of surrender, only not kneeling down to give Lin Lie a few loud head-butts.
"This dead gorilla, it actually knows to surrender when it can't win?" Lin Li's eyes widened in amazement. No wonder Anduin said that they were just a group of trouble-making little rascals, if they could beat someone they would draw circles on their face, and if they couldn't beat them they would lie on the ground begging for mercy. Is this really an eighth-level magic beast?
For such a lazy guy, Lin Li really didn't know how to deal with him.
He just let it go, but Lin Li was not willing to give up. He wanted to kill him easily, but that would be too boring. After thinking about it for a while, Lin Li got a headache and his anger fell on the Leviathan ape's head again. This time, he didn't need any wind blades. He simply pulled out a vine and started whipping, scolding as he whipped: "You dare to kidnap and extort! You dare to hit me with coconuts! You dare to make funny faces at me... Wait, what did I curse him for earlier? Forget it, let me start again... You dare to kidnap and extort..."
This beating was so intense that the poor Leviathan ape was completely battered, an eighth-level demon beast that didn't even dare to dodge in front of a single vine whip. It wasn't until Lin Lie felt his hand getting tired that he finally stopped, looking at the poor Leviathan ape which had already been beaten to the point where it couldn't take it anymore and had buried its head deep into the ground.
On the other hand, McGregory and Ina were left staring in awe, for they had some understanding of Lin's strength along the way, knowing that he was a powerful magician, but they never thought that Lin's strength would be so strong, the scene of the infinite wind blades made them feel like they were dreaming.
MacGregor was a seasoned adventurer, having seen many magicians, but he had never seen one who could change as much as Lin Li did. Just look at the previous wind blade, it's even denser than the coconut trees of Leviathan Island.
When Lin Li finally got the Leviathan ape to roll around on the ground, McGonagall and her daughter had become completely numb. To them, this young wizard was simply a monster...
"See if you dare to be arrogant in the future..." Lin had satisfied his craving for violence, and with a clear mind, he casually threw away the rattan stick in his hand. He glanced around and was about to call out to McGregory and his daughter to leave.
However, this action fell into the eyes of the Leviathan ape, and it thought he was going to change to a new stick and come again. The one that had just been beaten up was suddenly scared out of its wits and couldn't bear to continue pretending to be dead. It quickly jumped up from the ground, making "Woo woo woo" sounds to beg for mercy while pointing at a giant tree in the distance.
"What's up?"
"Waaaahhhh!"
"Hmph... " Lin Li kicked the Leviathan ape impatiently and looked in the direction it was pointing: "You wouldn't be hiding a beautiful Leviathan ape girl there, preparing to offer her to me, would you?"
"Wooo..."
"Besides wu wu wu wu, can you say anything else?"
"Waaaah!"
“……”
Really can't stand this guy who only knows how to make a "Woo Woo" noise, Lin Li simply followed it to the giant tree to take a look.
The ground was covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves, but unlike the rotting leaves in the dense forest, these leaves were unusually dry and some even still had a hint of green, clearly having been recently torn from the trees.
Without waiting for Lin's order, the Levitan ape had already swept aside the fallen leaves under the tree with three swoops and two swoops, revealing a deep and large tree hole.
"Wow!" Lin Li glanced into the tree hole and suddenly felt that this dead gibbon was too talented, turning a simple tree hole into a treasure trove. He looked inside to see what was hidden: rusty weapons and armor, sparkling glass beads, a pile of colorful paints, and even a canvas smeared with colors in a messy manner...
After making a big fuss, this guy brought himself over just to show off these broken things? Lin Li was both annoyed and amused.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, he suddenly felt that among the messy pile of things, a faint magical fluctuation was emanating. This feeling was all too familiar to Lin Li, whether it was the Endless Storm Ring on his hand or the Furious Flame Robe on his body, they always inadvertently emitted this faint magical fluctuation.
"Really hiding something good?" Lin Li was taken aback, anything that could emit a weak magical fluctuation would not be an ordinary object, and even the staff given to him by the old wizard did not qualify for this.
Overjoyed, Lin Li didn't have time to deal with the Leviathan Ape, and hurriedly bent down to select something from the tree hole.
His feeling was right, after tearing open that colorful canvas, Lin Li soon found a ring in a pile of glass beads.
The ring's color looked somewhat dull, and it was unknown what material was used, but the craftsmanship was fine and delicate, with intricate patterns swirling around, like a multitude of stars supporting a black diamond. And that faint magical fluctuation came from this diamond.
Lin Li was immediately drawn in by the diamond on top as soon as she saw the ring.
It was an almost instinctual intuition that Lin knew this was absolutely a powerful magical equipment, at least not worse than the Flame Robe on his body.
"Alright, alright... Since you're so sincere, I won't be polite anymore..." Lin Li patted the Leviathan ape's head with a playful gesture, probably because he was in a good mood after getting the ring. At this moment, looking at the Leviathan ape again, it didn't seem as detestable as before.
"Hahaha!" The Leviathan ape simply grinned foolishly, looking rather pleased, but it was unclear whether he was happy that Lin Li had accepted the ring or happy to finally be rid of this plague.
He unexpectedly obtained a piece of magical equipment, Lin Li was in high spirits for a while and didn't bother to tease the Leviathan Chimpanzee anymore. He just kicked it on its butt: "Scram!"
After being kicked, the Leviathan ape was like a great amnesty, and it drilled into the depths of the forest with a snort.
He took the ring and was about to slip away when he suddenly saw that canvas painted in five colors.
It was then that Lin Li noticed that under the chaotic colors, there seemed to be something else.
Lin Li found it somewhat strange and picked up the canvas with a sweep of his hand.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that there were some curved symbols on the canvas.
"High Elvish script!" Lin Li was startled at the time, and Anduin had hidden a lot of magic books in that small wooden house, among which some were written in High Elvish script. It's just that Lin Li had just come into contact with magic, and his foundation was not very solid, so Anduin never let him touch these things.
The contents of the letter were dense and hard to understand, but he at least knew that anything related to a high-ranking spirit would never be ordinary.
So he didn't hesitate at all and casually stuffed that dirty canvas into his bosom.
The three returned to the cave when Cromwell was staring at the bonfire in a daze.
"Ina!" Seeing McGregory and his daughter safe and sound, the enthusiastic magician was shocked. The monster that took Ina away was too powerful, its speed was like lightning, and in an instant, he found himself knocked to the ground, with Ina taken from him. He couldn't believe that the three of them could safely rescue Ina.
Thinking of that monster's terror, I suddenly remembered my previous behavior, remembering how I abandoned Ina and ran back alone in a panic.
For a moment Cromwell only felt his face burning, and he stood there stiffly, neither standing nor sitting, until Lin Li helped him out of the predicament.
"It's getting late, let's get some rest early."
