Chapter Eleven: Gallos
The next day at noon, a group of four returned to Gallos City.
"Ferr, this is Galos City." Walking through the bustling streets, McGregnie enthusiastically introduced Lin Li to the prosperous city: "Not far ahead is the Adventurer's Guild. When I don't have a mission, I usually stay there. If you need help with anything, you can find me at the Emerald Tavern next door."
"Wow! This Gallos City is huge……" Having lived in the high-rise buildings of the city, Lin felt that everything was so novel and interesting as he walked into this exotic city. Following McGrane, his eyes were busy looking left and right, enjoying himself immensely.
Looking at Lin Li's appearance, Cromwell, who was walking in the back, couldn't help but furrow his brow, what a country bumpkin who has never seen the world...
His current mood is complex, with regret and unwillingness, but more so, it is hatred towards Lin Li.
He regretted why he had to chase into the Sunset Mountains. If he hadn't chased into the Sunset Mountains, he wouldn't have encountered the Leviathan Ape. If he hadn't encountered the Leviathan Ape, he wouldn't have left Ina alone and fled in a hurry. There were many ways to pursue Ina, but he had chosen the stupidest one.
At the moment when Levitan's ape grabbed Ina, he was completely stunned. The eighth-level demon beast was so powerful that just standing in front of it made Cronwell's whole body tremble uncontrollably. He wanted to chase after and rescue Ina, but his legs wouldn't listen to him. His usual confidence had vanished, leaving only endless fear.
In the end, fear conquered reason and Cromwell chose flight.
Everything after that was just a nightmare for him.
He himself fled back to the cave in disarray, but this fallen magician brought Ina back, and Ina's attitude towards herself was no longer polite as usual, only disdainful, a kind of disdain that treated herself like air, until now, Ina had never looked at herself properly again.
Cromwell was no fool; he knew what it meant: that he had utterly lost all hope of pursuing Ina.
After the initial regret, Cromwell naturally attributed everything to Lin Li. It was because of his appearance that he lost the opportunity to defeat the two-legged flying dragon and save Ina's father and daughter. Similarly, it was because of his appearance that he performed so poorly in front of Leviathan Gorilla.
He even thought that all of this was Lin's plan, the damned magician had long had the intention to compete with himself for Ina's heart, so he would appear in the Sunset Mountains at that time.
Cromwell, who was caught up in conspiracy theories, didn't have time to think about how difficult it was to communicate with an eighth-level demon.
For the enthusiastic magician, Lin Li is the root of all evil. As long as he gets rid of him, he can be with Ina smoothly.
Lin Li's entry into Galos City was undoubtedly a great opportunity.
As the heir of the family, Krenwell was well aware of the immense power his family held in Galos, to the point where even the higher-ups in the Magic Guild couldn't ignore the opinions of the Merlin family. Once Lin entered the Magic Guild, they could do whatever they wanted with him.
At this point, Cromwell's gloomy face finally had a hint of a smile.
It was probably because of this that Cromwell, who had never spoken to Lin Li along the way, suddenly took the initiative to ask: "Will Master Ferry go to the Magic Guild to report later? If there's anything we can help with, just speak up. The Merlin family still has some say in the Galos Magic Guild."
"What news?" Lin Li was taken aback while looking around in all directions.
"You don't know?" Cromwell cursed the country bumpkin in his heart, but still kept a smile on his face: "The highest council clearly stipulates that magicians above level 5 who come to a new city must report to the magic guild of that city."
"Wait... what is this Supreme Council?"
"You don't even know what the highest council is?" Lin Li's ignorance opened Cromwell's eyes wide, and his vanity was extremely satisfied. He couldn't help but scold in his heart: "The Highest Council was established after the Dark Ages, also known as the Anriel Magic Association Supreme Arbitration Council. Its purpose is to better supervise and manage the magic association, of course - magic families are not included in the management, such as our Merlin family."
"Oh..." Lin Li nodded and asked somewhat doubtfully: "Then the Magic Guild is a subordinate organization of the highest council?"
"It's roughly like that, but the highest legislative body generally does not directly participate in management."
Lin Li didn't continue asking questions, but instead thought to himself in his heart, it seems that the world of Anriel is more complicated than he had imagined.
Deep in thought, the group had already arrived at the Adventurer's Guild entrance.
This is a large building that occupies almost half of the street, with simple and unadorned decorations. From the outside, you would never guess that this is the largest and wealthiest institution in Anril. Upon entering through the main entrance, there is a spacious hall where people usually receive their tasks, as introduced by McGregory. The hall is packed with adventurers of all shapes and sizes, some waiting for new tasks while others have already received theirs and are preparing to leave. These adventurers cover almost every profession Lin Li knows, from mages to warriors, archers to thieves. Most of them carry a faint scent of blood on their bodies, which Lin Li recognizes as the result of years of battling monsters.
"Fei Lei, you sit here for a while, I'll go with Ina to hand in the task, and come back soon."
McGrane had just finished speaking and was about to turn around and leave when Lin Li stretched out his hand and pulled him back: "Didn't your mission fail?"
"Failed missions also need to be handed in, otherwise we won't be able to take on other missions."
"Will there be any trouble if that mission fails?"
MacGyver shook his head: "No trouble at all, just a small financial loss."
"Wait for me here."
Lin Li found a secluded corner and quietly opened the Endless Storm Ring, taking out half of the Lion Scorpion's tail spike. This was something he had cut from the Lion Scorpion's corpse when he helped Anduin pick wild steel flowers. At that time, Lin Li just thought this thing had good toxicity, and if he wanted to make some kind of weapon in the future, it should be useful. However, McGregory and his daughter were already serving as guides for him, and now was exactly when he needed it, so Lin Li didn't feel like hiding it anymore.
"Will this do for the task?" Lin Li handed over half of the Lion's Tail Sting to McGregory.
"The middle-aged adventurer never thought that the problem he was most worried about would be solved so simply. Thinking of Lin Li's help along the way, this inarticulate middle-aged man didn't know what to say for a while, and just kept repeating: "Thank you, thank you..."
"No need to be polite, I won't have any use for this thing anyway..." Lin Li smiled and said: "I still have some things to take care of, so I won't continue walking with you guys. If you have anything in the future, you can find me at the Magic Guild. Unless something unexpected happens, I'll probably be staying there for a while."
"Mr. Ferre!" Lin Li had just walked to the outside of the Adventurer's Guild when Ina rushed out, her long legs and golden hair fluttering, a pretty face flushed red, with an expression that was 70% shy and 30% reluctant: "Mr. Ferre..."
"Really?"
"Mr. Ferre... I..." Ina's pale small hand clenched, constantly encouraging herself in her heart, but "I" for half a day, finally said: "Goodbye Mr. Ferre..."
"Goodbye Ina."
Lin Li smiled and was about to turn around, but suddenly felt a fragrant breeze coming over. Ina, who had just blushed bright red, finally mustered up the courage and stuffed something into Lin Li's palm: "This is for you!"
Stuffing things into Lin Li's hands, Ina was already so shy that her ears were bright red. Before Lin Li could ask any questions, this long-legged beauty fled back to the Adventurer's Guild like a frightened little white rabbit.
Watching that fleeting back view, Lin was stunned and stood still on the street for a long time before remembering to look at what's in his hand.
That was a freshly made scroll bag, although the workmanship was a bit rough, but it was sewn with great care. Holding it in his hand, Lin Li felt as if he could still feel Ina's faint body temperature...
