93 - Loot Bonanza

  Bang! A gunshot echoed.

Ellie held the flintlock pistol, a flash of fire erupting from the barrel as it recoiled powerfully. A bullet sped into the night outside.

"Wow!" The girls surrounding Ellie gasped, witnessing a real firearm discharge for the first time.

Ellie, however, was surprised by the pistol's kick. She almost lost her grip on the flintlock.

A strong wind rushed in through the window, carrying the faint scent of gunpowder, a testament to the flintlock's power.

This particular flintlock was unlike regular ones. It didn't require tedious reloading. It seemed to have a pocket dimension inside, automatically generating and storing ammunition.

  Bang! Bang!

Ellie repeatedly pulled the trigger, bullets flying into the darkness.

Each shot produced a strong recoil. Without her E-Rank strength, Ellie wouldn't have been able to hold it.

Click—Ellie pulled the trigger again, but no bullet fired.

"Out of ammo…" Ellie realized. She had to wait ten seconds for a new bullet to be produced. Six bullets meant waiting a full minute.

Lily chimed in, "Ellie, can I try a couple of shots?"

"Sure." Ellie nodded, carefully handing the flintlock to Lily. "Lily, the recoil's strong, be careful to hold on tight, and don't let it go off accidentally."

Jason had already warned the girls. It was okay to play with the flintlock, but they had to be extra careful to prevent any accidental firings.

They had all heard Jason's warning and wouldn't point the gun recklessly. They would only shoot out the window.

And so, the girls huddled around the window, chattering excitedly as they took turns firing.

Since they didn't have to worry about ammo consumption, taking a few shots each was no big deal.

Meanwhile, Jason sat on the sofa, browsing the World Auction Channel.

He only had a little over six thousand Escape Coins left, enough to bid on one more weapon at most.

Ten weapons would be auctioned in total this time, and Jason, with the Escape Coins he had, definitely wanted to snag another one.

After all, it was now or never.

The World Auction Channel didn't open daily, but once after experiencing a world. The next opening wouldn't be until they went to the Scorching World.

Therefore, Jason couldn't miss this rare opportunity to buy a 2-Star weapon. Currently, Jason's ranged weapons included a 1-Star hand crossbow, a 2-Star flintlock pistol, and two polearms, one 1-Star and one 2-Star, plus a 2-Star shield.

The fifth item for auction was a longbow, but Jason didn't participate.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

He already had a hand crossbow and a pistol, so he didn't need a longbow as a ranged weapon.

But what he didn't need, others might. The longbow was a popular ranged weapon, and many people bid high, with someone ultimately taking it for over seven thousand Escape Coins.

The next few items were an axe, a staff, and a hammer, all sold for over five thousand Escape Coins.

Jason didn't bid on these either.

Because these were all polearms, Jason didn't participate in the auction.

Jason already had two spears, so he didn't need any more polearms. Instead, he needed to get a short-handled weapon.

Long-handled weapons would be restricted in terrains like caves and dense forests.

Jason wanted to remedy that shortcoming.

When the ninth item, a short-handled long sword, came up for auction, Jason finally made a bid.

After a round of bidding, Jason successfully purchased the short-handled long sword for 5500 Escape Coins.

The final item was a dagger. Jason didn't watch any longer, closing the system interface.

"Hubby, aren't you going to watch the auction anymore?" Chloe asked curiously, sitting beside him.

Jason was in a good mood, having bought four of the ten weapons in the auction, so he explained with a smile, "I've run out of Escape Coins. No need to keep watching."

Tiffany, who was sitting beside him, felt a bit guilty. "Hubby, it's my fault I didn't earn many Escape Coins today."

In the previous days, Jason could earn ten thousand Escape Coins a day.

But today, she only earned a little over six thousand Escape Coins, far less than the previous three days' earnings.

If she had earned more Escape Coins today, perhaps Jason could have bought another weapon.

Jason saw her guilt and comforted her with a smile, "Tiffany, this has nothing to do with you. The main reason is that the Pursuer wiped out a lot of teams today, so there are naturally fewer buyers than before."

Currently, out of the five thousand people in the chat channel, over two thousand were on the bus, and they didn't have many resources.

The remaining two thousand or so people were actually teams led by four or five hundred RV owners, so their spending power was naturally not as good as before.

Tiffany was deeply touched by Jason's words.

In her opinion, Jason was completely comforting her so she wouldn't feel guilty.

Tiffany had originally thought that after getting on the RV, she would become Jason's pampered pet, but she didn't expect Jason to directly entrust her with the important task of earning Escape Coins.

True sincerity for true sincerity, she had already made up her mind to help Jason earn even more Escape Coins.

Jason naturally didn't know Tiffany's thoughts.

In fact, Jason was still somewhat wary of Tiffany. For example, Tiffany hadn't absorbed any Attribute Orbs, and her stats were no different from those of an ordinary person.

She was different from Lily and Joy, and Jason couldn't be sure of her loyalty.

As for entrusting her with the task of earning Escape Coins, Jason wasn't worried. The Escape Coins she earned from selling items would be transferred to him immediately, so there wouldn't be a situation where she kept them for herself.

Moreover, after tonight, Jason would collect Favor Points and naturally be able to discern her true intentions.

  Jason reviewed today's gains.

In terms of weapons, Kira had obtained a 1-Star spear in the Chests mechanism, followed by a 2-Star shield, a 2-Star spear, a 2-Star flintlock pistol, and a 2-Star short-handled long sword purchased at auction.

In terms of items, the biggest gain was the Blueprints for the Simmons Double Bed, followed by banana peels, a vehicle repair tool kit, fertilizer, and bandages.

There was also a 1-Star robe bought from the chat channel.

Jason decided to give this robe to Tiffany after confirming her loyalty tonight.

After all, the workload of trading goods was huge, and this robe would be of great help to her.

After reviewing the gains, Jason gathered the girls, prepared to rest, and arranged for them to take turns guarding the RV at night.

Nighttime monster attacks couldn't be taken lightly. Jason didn't want to screw up on such a trivial matter.

When it came time to rest for the night, the girls' expressions varied. Tiffany was nervous, Chloe and Ellie were excited, ?Joy was curious, Lily was worried, and Kira and Jenna were smiling without a word.

No need to elaborate on these.

With the addition of Lily and her two comrades, the pressure of night watch wasn't great at all.

Moreover, the Simmons Double Bed could restore their fatigue and drowsiness, and Jason could even collect more Favor Points.

After allocating the night watch duties, they took showers, rested, and the night passed without incident.
