Leaving the principal office wasn't as problematic as getting into it, Elizabeth and company merely had to retrace their steps back, at first Elizabeth had thought that Agatha would guide them since, well... the older witch seemed to be somewhat more invested than expected, perhaps thanks to Mother's meddling but that was not what happened.
"Well, good luck on your way out. If you need anything tell one of the teachers, most got replaced and half of our staff got removed for attempting to follow into the old council ruling, so you should be okay on your own." Agatha merely said that while waving them away.
Elizabeth was not sure if she was happy or not about this outcome, in one hand it meant that she didn't need to mind the public and could be all lovey-dovey with Rossie and Rena...
But on the other hand it meant that she needed to be wary of her surroundings since she wasn't sure when the Galaxidae or the student council would come at them!
"According to the message JEnna sent, she is currently waiting at the waiting room 8. They wanted to reserve another room, but apparently, they were already scheduled, and she didn't want to overstrain her authority and get us into trouble." Rena said from the side reading a text message from her cellphone.
"She should just abuse the authority, not like other students and [Heroes] don't do that already." Rossie said from the side, grumbling, "Imagine making Eli-Eli wait like that because she doesn't want to risk being looked down on after all the problems she made us go through."
Rossie seemed to still be upset about the whole thing that they went with Jenna, even though it had been brought forth mainly because Elizabeth hadn't been able to deal with her own hubris. It was fated to happen, with or without Jenna kickstarting it; if anything, it was lucky the fact that it happened in a city with a low population...
Elizabeth couldn't help but think what would have happened if she had gone out of control in an isolated place like the MPI, which was its own sealed dimension.
Oh right, there was that fact. Elizabeth had originally thought that the MPI was settled in an isolated part of the world, it was quite the surprise when she arrived and her space sense detected the fact that this was a space bubble stuck to Zaanam. But that was also beside the point.
Focus Elizabeth!
"Let's go then, we shouldn't keep Jenna waiting, she has been waiting for plenty thanks to so many distractions from Agatha," Elizabeth said bringing her own phone out to check if Jenna had sent her any messages. "Jenna said that we can take our time..."
Only to find a message from Jenna telling her to take it slow since talking with [The Sniper] was a slow afair either way.
What did that even mean?
"Did Jenna send you anything Eli-Eli?" Rossie asked from the side, "Do we need to rush? I can check if we can skip some of the paperwork if needed. I think there are a few....'Friends' working around that could help us on this."
Rossie's friends?
Elizabeth was highly tempted to accept that offer, if only to see what kind of people Rossie's friends were.
"I may be able to get them to give us a free pass with a couple minutes worth of time, perhaps a look or two to my shift ought to be enough..." Rossie continued saying while biting her thumb cutely.
No, wait, a couple minutes?
That is wrong Rossie, you need to take care of your friends! You can't keep a friendship by dedicating only a couple minutes now and then!
No, wait, was it Elizabeth's fault? Since she was monopolizing Rossie's time?
...But she didn't want to share Rossie...
"You need to take your time, Rossie," Elizabeth ended up saying, stopping herself from shuddering by using her Shadow Puppeteer skill. Was it designed to be used like this? No, but Elizabeth was fighting for her life here! "If you need time off to make sure your friends are loved, then...I don't mind you spending time with them while we are here. I have been selfish, and we did spend quite the amount of time at my house...I should have asked if you or Rena wanted to do something."
Oh right...Rena too, well she probably didn't have friends, not after thinking about the kind of life she had before Elizabeth took her from Akira's grasp anyway.
Thinking about it, that was worse, actually.
"...I think there is some kind of misunderstanding here, but the 'Friends' I speak to won't mind me giving them only a couple minutes of my time." Rossie said, confused, "Actually, they may thank me for it."
Thank her for it? What...what kind of friendship was that?
The few times Elizabeth managed to get a couple friendships going on her previous school she had needed to keep speaking with them almost daily to make sure they didn't forget about her.
Granted, most of those had been internet friends since...most of the real-life friends she attempted to cultivate were fake. No one ever looked at her for who she was after all.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Not like that mattered anymore, in the current world it was impossible for people to look at her and not see her after all.
"...Even so, you need to take care of your friends." Elizabeth said seriously, "Should I meet them? I don't mind making some time for your friends Rossie."
"I'll kill them," Rossie suddenly said, "I mean, it's fine Eli-Eli, the kind of 'Friends' you think and the ones I have are different, these are closer to a transactional relationship. Not the type you think."
Transactional friendship? how did that even work?
"If you are sure..." Elizabeth said confused, but she decided to respect Rossie's privacy, because a healthy relationship was built in trust. So if Rossie said that her friends were happy in their friendship, well. Who was she to judge them.
"Besides Rena already meet them, she can vouch for me." Rossie suddenly said, pointing to Rena.
"I have?" Rena asked, confused, "I don't remember meeting any..."
"The girls we meet at the Blonde's demise pub." Rossie said interrupting Rena.
Also, what kind of meeting point was that? Who would even want to attend one with such an ominous-sounding name that sounded more like a brothel or a love hotel than a place you would go to hang around with friends.
"Oh...Those friends..." Rena said grimacing, "Yeah, you don't need to meet them Eli-Eli, they are...the kind of people that won't mind Rossie only giving them a minute or two every now and then."
"If you say so..." Elizabeth wasn't that convinced, but if Rena was vouching for them, then chances were that they indeed didn't mind. Such a weird friendship.
"Also, friends is a strong word; they are closer to acquaintances or people with the same interests as Rossie," Rena suddenly added, "They share some...tastes with Rossie, so they hang around from time to time, I accompanied her once or twice, but we didn't match as well."
Ah, so that was why Rossie could keep her friendship with them, they shared a hobby!
Elizabeth needed to see if she could match a hobby with Rossie and Rena too; she needed to have something to do with her girlfriends to deepen the bonds; right now, they were on the honeymoon stage of their relationship.
They were surviving on the fluffy, warm feeling of love and love tension, but when that was snuffed, if they hadn't built up any type of shared interest, then she would be at risk of being slowly replaced from a loving relationship to a dead relationship.
But what did Rossie love?
-Stalking Elizabeth.
-Stalking cute blondes that looked like Elizabeth.
-Do weird sounds in dark rooms while spying on Elizabeth.
-Buy weird things from the internet and run with mysterious gooey substances into dark rooms and peek at Elizabeth.
-Watch photos of Elizabeth.
-Watch videos of Elizabeth.
-Go and melt into Rena's embrace.
-Go and melt into Elizabeth's embrace.
-Take a shower with Elizabeth.
-Take a steamy shower with Rena.
-Take a bath with Elizabeth.
-Take a steamy bath with Rena.
-Do the previous four with both girls at the same time.
"hmm...." Elizabeth was in quite the pickle wasn't she? Was this her Pride again?
"What are you thinking about Eli-Eli?" Rossie asked from the side.
"What do you like doing Rossie?" Elizabeth decided to ask instead of worrying about it; communication was key to a healthy relationship, after all.
"Hanging around with you," Rossie answered immediately. Such a cute answer, but one that was meaningless since Elizabeth also liked that, and that felt more like a token answer or a compliment than anything.
"Besides that Rossie," Elizabeth said, "I'm wondering what we can do when we deal with all of this."
"I would love to go to an attraction park, maybe go see a movie? I also love reading revenge romance novels, especially those in which the main character gets revenge on the scummy male by taking all the girls he loved into an all-girls harem." Rossie said smiling at Elizabeth, "What about you Ren-Ren?"
"Me?" Rena said surprised by suddenly being called upon, "I...like swinging my sword...practicing...training..."
Yeah, Elizabeth already knew that.
"Not that, what would you love to do with Eli-Eli when all is said and done, or with me." Rossie said patiently.
"What would I love doing with you two..." Rena said slowly suddenly blushing, "I...want to go to a hot springs with you two...To the beach...I always wanted to go to the beach...And...Go to the camps, the mountains...the desert..."
So travel it was.
"Sure, we can do both. We can go travel the world stopping by libraries to buy romance novels to read under the stars." Elizabeth said nodding, that was a good plan. Besides if she got more control over Terra Nexus then perhaps she could reproduce the sights they saw, inmortalizing the sites Rena loved so she could go there whenever she wanted. "But that is for later when we don't have anything else to worry about, right now... We need to focus on this."
Elizabeth hated the fact that they still had these problems to deal with. She didn't like it; it was almost as if someone was toying with her fate just for amusement, even though she was aware that it should not be possible.
If the blonde asshole had left something for her was that Heavy Fate, she should be immune or if not very resistant to fate tampering. No one should have that kind of power, not even The World.
"And for that, even if I don't really like it...We will need their help." Elizabeth said stopping in front of another building.
They had been walking all this time going straight from the principal's office to the campus and now stood in front of a building that she never got the chance to use.
The visitation building, one designed to hold and contain the people who came to the MPI to visit students, was designed to host parents and [Heroes] / [Magical Girls] who wanted to scout students.
So, while it was designed to be hospitable, it was also designed to hold and contain the mana of those who walked in.
It was said that a C-Tier was rendered as powerless as a F-Tier. So most of the time it was quite effective at doing that. So Rossie and Rena would be brought down to D-Tier, and Elizabeth would be limited to C-Tier...
If it worked on them as intended that is.
"Okay girls, be on your best behaviour. We don't need more enemies right now." Elizabeth said taking a deep breath, "Rossie this is the one that will be your teacher, I have no idea what Jenna had in mind when she suggested [The Sniper] of all people, but learn all you can."
Elizabeth would have expected her to suggest an A-Tier [Magical Girl] or a [Witch], hell. Elizabeth wouldn't have been surprised if Jenna attempted to get an [Assassin] or a [Murderer] to teach Rossie!
But instead she brought [The Sniper]? If it was going to be someone from the [Nine Stars] then it would have made more sense for [The Elementalist] or [The Warlock].
Granted, both of those were possible enemies, so it made sense that Jenna didn't brought them.
"As for you Rena...The same applies when we manage to get to your teacher, wonder what she expects [The Tinkerer] to even be able to do with you. You are further away from [The Tinkerer] than Rossie is from [The Sniper]." Elizabeth said shaking her head.
"It's okay, Eli-Eli," Rossie said, "I will steal as much knowledge as I can from this girl. There is no way a former [Powered] can hide something from a [Mage]."
That...was not the correct attitude, but it was the best that Elizabeth would get, so she nodded.
"Perhaps Jenna is attempting to gear us? It makes sense that she would attempt to match me with a [Tinkerer], perhaps she wants her to build me some kind of gear to use while transformed into [Ashura]?" Rena said from the side, "And she wants Rossie to train in long-range sniping? Since she is a [Healer], it makes sense for her to be as far away from combat as possible."
That...actually made sense.
"You know what, you are right." Elizabeth said turning to Rena, "As expected from our lovely and smart Rena."
Yes, Elizabeth had been aware of this lately, the fact that Rena was...actually very smart, way smarter than most people gave her credit, granted. It was hard to notice that at first since she used to go all WRATH, MURDER, KILL!
But once you got to the fluffy soft interior you could see the brilliant inquisitive mind of a lovely girl. Who could murder you by pulling at you in four different directions, but that was besides the point.
"...compliments will get you nowhere...I already love you." Rena said, blushing slightly while hiding her face behind both hands.
"Okay, with that settled up." Not like Elizabeth needed to ask if Rena loved her or not, "Let's go!"
And like that Elizabeth walked torward the visitation building, thinking back on it, the fact that Mother and Papa walked around the place witouth any restraints was quite the feat.
Since most of the visitors were restrained to this building, not even Jenna...Well, Jenna could probably get away with walking around without much trouble if she put on her [Juggernaut] armor...
The same was probably true for [The Sniper], even if she wasn't that popular, no one that thought of stopping a S-Tier [Hero] would live long after all.
"Welcome to the visitation building," A receptionist said as soon as Elizabeth walked in with Rossie and Rena beside her, "Are you here to visit a student or to see someone visiting you?"
That was an interesting thing to say...Since that implied that people could walk around as they wanted, which was a lie. Or at least Elizabeth was under that impression.
