"[The Warlock] and [The Prophet]." Agatha said ignoring Rossie's idea about dealing with them.
Elizabeth was partial to Rossie's answer, so far she hadn't found anyone that was a problem after being killed or removed out of existence, not that she had done that much, but she was ready to support her girlfriend's life choices.
How could she not? Rossie was cute! And as we all knew, cute was Justice.
"Well, let's start easy." Agatha said summoning the photograph of the blue-skinned demon-looking guy to the front, he seemed to be looking straight at the camera an possing for the picture that was about to be taken even, "[The Warlock], older brother to [The Prophet]. No known living relatives, unknown age and nationality."
Why was that even important? Most of the members of the [Nine Stars] and their previous iteration [The Twelve] had been like that too.
"He is a magic caster of the contracted type. Most of his power comes from his contract with otherworldly entities that he made throughout his life. As such he is both one of the weakest and most dangerous members of the [Nine Stars]." Agatha said bringing pictures of him in multiple situations, sometimes he stood behind monsters that looked like demons, and in others he himself was the demon in question having his features morphed more and more into that of creatures that looked as if they had crawled out of the abyss.
"How can he simultaneously be the weakest and among the most dangerous?" Rossie asked, confused, "Wouldn't a simple exorcism spell be enough to deal with him? or a banishment spell."
Rossie knew how to exorcise? That sounded kind of hot.
"That would work if he was an average contracted caster, and even then you would need to overpower his mana to finish the connection and send the original creature back to his original plane," Agatha said shaking her head, "That is not the case on this case. Most contract-type casters aren't popular because, on the same level, it is easier for their opponents to forcefully finish the contract."
That sounded about right for Elizabeth; she would do the same if she found a mana tether into the abyss fueling his enemy's power.
"That is not the case with [The Warlock]." Agatha said summoning a video, how many clips did these people have?!?!? Weren't they supposed to be cagey about their powers? What were they doing broadcasting them to the masses?!?!?!?
"Case in point, among the most popular clips of [The Warlock] is of his encounter against a Divine Caster that attempted to do what Rossaline said," Agatha said and she let the clip roll.
"Your reign of terror will come to an end, you [Demon Worshiping] scum!" Said a man wearing white robes adorned with gold finish, he was brandishing a golden scepter and each time he spoke spit flowed everywhere.
"You are aware I'm a [Hero], right?" [The Warlock] said while waving at the camera, then turning back to the man wearing white, "It is on my job description to end reigns of terrors. Not make new ones."
Elizabeth didn't have any memory of meeting [The Warlock], but the image that presented on the video seemed...wrong.
Elizabeth turned to Agatha and as she was about to ask what was the deal with this...skit. Agatha answered her question before she even said it.
"Wait for it, this is the one version with less useless chatter." Agatha said pointing at the video.
Elizabeth decided to ask her question later then and turned her attention back to the video in question, she did want to see what this was going to be about after all.
If she somehow ended up fighting against these people, then this would be valuable. She still didn't know why her Mother had asked her to be wary of Italian people after all.
"Behold the power of [Good] and [Justice]...I summon thy by our contract [Dawn Blade of Justice and Good]!" The white-robed man said as a mandala with way too much gold and crosses started weaving itself in the air. Elizabeth couldn't help but think that it was overly complex and the weird letters made it inefficient.
"What's with the language?" Rossie said from the side, "I know some of those symbols are there to reinforce the [Holy Mana], but they have a weird resonance with the letters."
"That is [Enochian]," Agatha answered from the side summoning a book from behind her, "It is allegedly angel script, the language of the angels. One subtype of humans who are more aligned with [Divine Mana] and [Divinie Entities], they are usually servants or human souls who are suffused with [Divine Mana] and in turn are tied to their [Gods]."
...They needed an script to do that? Why not just use [Idea]?
Elizabeth turned to look at the video once more and the white-robed man had finished their chant and from within the magic circle a creature that was... also wearing a white robe, only this one had more sharp angles and their clothes seemed to be more metallic than of fabric.
The style seemed oddly familiar; it looked close to what her outfit had been as [Stardust Weaver]... only this thing didn't look cute. Also didn't seem to be human.
This thing's hands were floating and separated from the body. It had feet but didn't seem to have tights connected to said feet. And more importantly.
"What's with the face?" [The Warlock] pointed at the thing's face, or where it should have a face, instead of a face had a triangle with nine eyes and two rings floating around the triangle head with eyes all around the ring's surface. Both on the inside and the outside of the ring.
So many eyes.
"Ew," Rena said at her side, vocalizing Elizabeth's feelings.
"Those [Angels] don't look too...[Holy] looking to me right now," Elizabeth said turning to Rossie and Agatha, since they were the ones who knew more about that side of magic.
"Well...there isn't a consensus on how they look," Agatha said pausing the video.
"Most people seem to think that they should look like handsome or beautiful humans, others think they shouldn't look like us. And instead should look more eldtrichly, and there are a few who think they should look like a couple of wheels with eyes all around their body." Rossie said with a shrug, "To be honest I never summoned or attempted to summon them, I don't do well with their type. Since they are heavily afflicted by their summoner."
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
"You would end up summoning demons," Rena said with a smirk from the side.
"Probably," Agatha said shaking her head as she sighed.
"Rossie would summon the cutest [Angel]!" Elizabeth said defending her girlfriend's honor.
"...No, I did summon a [Demon]." Rossie said sheepishly, "And a couple [ Fallen Angels]."
"...And I'm sure they were cute!" Elizabeth didn't let that affect her opinion of Rossie.
"...they were succubi weren't they?" Rena said with a knowing smile.
"...yes." Rossie said while blushing, "They were quite useful...for a few days anyway."
"?" Elizabeth tilted her head to the side, unsure of why that was something to blush over. Hadn't Rossie's [Race] changed to Succubus or something? No wait, she was a [Night Temptress] right?
Elizabeth had read some of their traits, and it was mentioned that they were evolved versions of normal succubi. So what was the problem with Rossie summoning more of her kind?
"Anyway, let's continue with the video first," Agatha said pointing at the holoprojector.
The video turned to focus on [The Warlock] as he seemed to gauge his summon, "That is one ugly motherfucker." Was all [The Warlock] said as the air started to be supercharged with golden motes of light.
The image of the [Warlock] then merely looked as the angelic creature charged at him with a spear raised, he didn't move or even attempt to dodge, instead all that he did was raise his right arm, the one that seemed to be demonic in nature.
"It doesn't hurt at all," [The Warlock] said as he grabbed the point of the holy-looking spear and then, with the flick of his fingers he destroyed it, "But it is quite weak, if I was a real demon worshiper you would be so dead right now..."
The white-robed man didn't seem to be-
"HOW?!?!? HOW DID YOU BREAK OUR HOLY RELIC! THAT IS THE SACRED SPEAR OF LONGINUS!" Never mind, he was actually quite infuriated.
Actually…” Isn't the Longinus spear thing this one?" Elizabeth said, flicking her hand and summoning a bident from her armory.
She had used one of these not that long ago.
"Yes, Eli-Eli, that is indeed the actual Spear of Longinus," Rossie smiled from the side.
"...Elizabeth? Why do you have a sacred relic that is said to have fell the son of a god?" Agatha asked from the side.
"Two things," Elizabeth said, raising one finger, "It isn't a problem when the crazed cultists use it? And two, I found it."
"Well, he summoned an angelic being, who then in turn summoned an imitation. He can't actually summon the real thing," Agatha answered the first question, "And second, you can't just…find these things. If the church saw it, they would attempt to take it from you!"
Elizabeth dismissed the spear away with a flick of her mind, "Well, I did find it…engraved within [Akasha], and that is how I got it, my skill lets me summon things engraved there." Elizabeth didn't quite understand how that thing worked, since she hadn't it for long.
And worst of all, it was of Akira before, so god knows how that thing actually worked, from the description Akira had amassed these things that were supposed to be used by an actual army of heroes, and instead kept them for himself.
Elizabeth hadn't dived that far into the armory; she didn't want to find weird things…Actually…
"Reginald? When you can make a list of the things within the armory, make sure nothing weird is there." Elizabeth sent the command to her loyal minion.
He was in charge of the thing after they found that fragment of Aetheria, so he probably would be the best to do it…If she offered it to Rossie or Rena they may be willing to do it, but she didn't want them to awake sad memories from Akira.
The last time that one of them awoke old trauma they spent two months recovering from it.
"...I don't even wanna think about how you got that, what is your Mother even thinking..or was it your father the one who gave that to you?" Agatha groaned as the video kept reproducing.
"Eli, I think the important bit is about to show, we can bother Agatha later." Rena said from the side, bringing her attention to the video.
It seemed as if [The Warlock] had continued rambling about things or whatnot, and at some point, he had destroyed the angelic being.
"Well, that was fun and all, but we are running out of the time I set up for this so I'll go ahead and bring your demise," [The Warlock] said to the white-robed man, who at this point was merely frothing at the mouth, that couldn't be healthy, "By the accord signed under the De'Medicci blood, I summon thy. Keeper of the gates of hell, arbiter of death and the spirits that haunt on the night…Come…Daughter of Hell…Come forth…■■■■■■■!"
Under [The Warlock] 's feet, a circle with way too many pointy ends formed; at the middle of it was a pentagram spinning, and from it, shadowy hands seemed to try to escape from within, which looked oddly familiar.
Hadn't the souls trapped within [The Shadow Tide] look like that?
"What did he summon?" Rossie asked from the side, "I only heard static."
"He used the True Name of that thing, only those under the contract can hear it." Agatha answered, "That was what I was going to teach you girls at the start of this year, summoning and means to protect oneself from them."
As they spoke a lithe figure started emerging from within the circle, at first it was as if the figure of a girl covered in inky sludge-like material, but as her body pierced the circle more and more her figure started showing.
"See how [The Warlock] is standing in the top of the pentagram but within a secondary magic circle? That keeps him safe from any attempt from the summon he called upon." Agatha explained and zoomed into the [Warlock] 's feet, "Even though he should have a good relationship with his summon since he isn't paying anything…at least quite yet."
The figure of the Girl became more clear, it was a young girl that looked roughly the same age as Elizabeth, she had blonde(Almost silver) hair and was wearing a white suit that matched her white skin, her tie was as black as the night and for some reason her eyes sclera was yellow with red pupils and atop her head stood two black horns.
"She looks kind of cute," Rena was the first one to speak.
"Beg you pardon?" Agatha asked aghast.
"I mean…she looks kind of cute. Right Rossie? Eli?" Rena said, turning to both girls with a slight blush on her face.
"I guess?" Elizabeth said, unsure of what to think; she…was aware that her tastes had changed somewhat to accommodate her newfound interest in cute girls, one that some people may think was nurtured by the slow cooking that Rossie had done.
But…that demonic Girl? She was kind of plain. She didn't had a cute bossom like Rossie, nor great assets as Rena.
Her skin was pale white, and the best thing she had going or her was the silver(Blonde-ish) hair. But besides that? Nothing.
"If you think she is cute, then she is cute," Rossie went for the safe answer.
"But…Look! She has the best traits!" Rena said, pointing desperately at the screen, "She has horns(Handles), a tail(leash), and great hair!"
Elizabeth… hadn't thought about horns and the tail like that.
"Handles and leash huh…." Rossie said with an impish smile.
Oh right, Rossie had horns and tail… Elizabeth would test that use later……this year.
"...please don't brandish your meal in front of a starving woman." Agatha whispered in a low enough tone that Elizabeth barely caught on to it, but before she could say anything Agatha said aloud, "That is enough, now look what a contracted demon is capable of."
The three girls focused once more into the holoscreen, "You summon me again for these kinds of things?" They could hear the annoyed, high-pitched voice of the demonic Girl, definitely not what Elizabeth expected, at least.
"Cut me some slack, look at him, he looks to be some high-ranking something-something within his organization," [The Warlock] said shrugging, "He attacked me with holy weapons! I could have died!"
Elizabeth could see the fake acting from this side, the man was pretending, pretending to be someone else, something else.
"Whatever, what would you have me do? Contractor." The Girl asked grumbling, "Better be something good after you are using me to replace your contract with ■■■■■■■."
Elizabeth was annoyed at those, she was already annoyed before when the whole 'Censored' names started showing up, and was more annoyed now that they showed up again.
"Can we do something about those black characters?" Elizabeth asked, "They annoy me,"
"Not unless you can breach our reality into the one they come from," Agatha said shaking her head, "They aren't meaningless, they are a way to make sure the demons aren't further tied to other beings, for creatures made up of mana. Their [True Name] is both a signature and a way to be tied down."
Elizabeth grumbled about the injustice in this world and turned to look at the screen.
There the silver-haired Girl grew horns and leathery wings on her back. Turning to the right Elizabeth could see Rena licking her lips, so that was really her type huh.
To the left she found Rossie merely narrowing her eyes, and while the pink-haired Girl didn't lick her lips, Elizabeth did notice a flicker of pink going to her eyes.
So both girls found that one to her tastes?
Elizabeth could not see what they saw on the silvery-yellow Girl with horns, leathery wings and a tail. But she would respect their tastes nontheless, perhaps after dealing with [The Warlock] Elizabeth could attempt to convince the Girl to join their group?
She could use the help to manage Terra Nexus.
Either way, she had some degree of power, as Elizabeth saw her summoning tentacles from magical circles that went and first restrained the white-robed man, then when that was done, these started draining him of his mana, and when that was done, these turned into manacles to keep him restrained.
"See? If I was the horrible being you think you would be dead, or sacrificed to those evil gods you claim I serve," [The Warlock] said turning to the demon girl.
"Not to me you won't, you know I don't accept souls as payments. Only Mana." The Girl said, earning extra points on Elizabeth's mind, she was better than [The Warlock] already.
"Right, thanks for coming, princess," [The Warlock] said as the Girl sank into the ground as if she was in a liquid.
Agatha didn't wait a second and ended the video recording, "And that is [The Warlock]. As you can see, not only is he powerful, but he can and will summon demons to aid him. Besides this one, he was a fallen angel soldier, a demonic spider, gargoyles, imps, and a couple extras around. Besides the original contract that made him this powerful, he hasn't summoned the last one since [Advent]. But we don't know if that is because it is no longer worth it for him..."
"Or he broke his contract," Rossie said from the side, "Maybe he did something during [Advent] that made him either break his contract... or the demon broke his contract when he attempted to do something."
Now that was an interesting take, what the hell was [The Warlock] doing during [The Advent] that made him or his contracted demon sour their relationship. Elizabeth would need to check if she could find that out; if she could, that could be useful to their ends.
