Chapter 72: Goddamit Mother...why are you derailing this?!?!?

"And the last one, and the most important of the ones you need to be aware of," Agatha snapped her fingers, and all the images disappeared. “[The Prophet].”

The image shown was that of a woman dressed in a white robe with a hood covering her face. She had that aura of pureness that Elizabeth couldn't quite place, and for some reason, to Elizabeth, it seemed as if it didn't match her.

"The holiest woman on the planet and the closest one to the [Gods]." Agatha said, bringing more and more photos of [The Prophet] and her standing in churches and cathedrals and giving handshakes to presidents and leaders of state.

"Hah!" Rossie spat a laugh filled with scorn, "As if that woman is anything close to [Holy]."

Rena on the other hand, didn't seem to have a strong opinion like Rossie. Did Rossie know her?

"Have you met her?" Elizabeth asked, turning to Rossie.

"Somewhat, she offered me a seat as a [Priestess] with her, but the deal she offered…was not something I would call fair," Rossie seemed to seethe on her seat, glaring daggers at the image.

Elizabeth hadn't seen this side of Rossie before, not against another being that wasn't Akira at least, she had seen her glare at other girls and at other men that approached her to court.

She had seen distate when men approached both hersef and Rossie or Rena, but this? This wasn't distate, this was outright hate. If it wasn't because Elizabeth knew that Rossie had Lust, then Elizabeth would think that she also had Wrath.

"What did she ask for?" Elizabeth couldn't help to ask, "And what did she offered for you to be this crossed?"

Rossie took a moment to take a deep breath and sighed, "She didn't offer anything, I asked her for help." And said as such.

Is Rossie asking for help? That…was not what Elizabeth had thought it would be.

"And she refused?" Rena asked as her eyes narrowed down to a slit. Elizabeth could feel the Fire and Wrath as Rena's eyes focused on the image of the holy Woman.

"No, she did something worse." Rossie shook her head, "She asked me to give her Elizabeth."

  *Crack*

  Crack?

Elizabeth turned to the right and where should be a chair and a cute sexy hot girlfriend stood a raging Ashura, where it should be a neat bookshelf with trophies and pictures stood a pile of ashes.

"...So that's why your Mother said that I should change my furniture for summoned one." Agatha said nonchalantly as she waved her hand, and the destruction disappeared and normal furniture returned.

Rena had unsheathed her six flaming katanas; with each weapon, she drew a straight line on the floor, walls, and ceilings. Agatha didn't seem to be as fazed as Elizabeth had thought she would be.

Flaring some mana into her eyes Elizabeth found the reason why, around Agatha stood several different magic circles floating around and hovering around, from information to appraisal and a few that seemed to seek [Soul Corruption], [Mind Corruption], [Enslavement], [Mind Manipulation] and [Mind break].

Elizabeth would not think too much about the fact that the [Mind Break] spell nodes flared as they pointed at the three girls. Nope, not gonna think about the fact that it also was shining like a lighthouse in a stormy night when it pointed to Elizabeth too.

There was no reason why it would flare that bright at her, she wasn't broken!

"Calm down, Rena," Rossie said in a low tone. "I didn't accept, couldn't accept, wouldn't accept."

"Why did she want me?" Elizabeth asked, "What did she want?"

"The council of magical girls never said it," Rossie said, venom still laced in her voice, "They promised me to use one of the [Wish] spells that [Odyssey] gave them to cure you, but I would need to pledge myself to them and give you to their care."

….Were they using her Mother as a bargaining tool?

"Hahahahahaha," Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh, "They…they really said that?"

As Elizabeth started laughing the somber atmosphere faded away, Rena slowly started giggling and her transformation reversed, from the tall (mommy) hot(mommy) sexy(mommy) to her still hot and sexy form.

"....It is kind of funny, isn't it?" Rena said as she joined in the laughter.

"It kind of is." Rossie giggled in a small voice.

"It is hilarious, when Mother is done teasing Alice and Chloe I'll pull her down to laugh at her!" Elizabeth said, still laughing as loudly as she could.

Even so, the good humor didn't last long as Elizabeth came to terms with the fact that [The Prophet] had made such an offer to Rossie, why had they done that? What did Rossie have that someone like [The Prophet] wanted?

The only thing that Rossie had for her was being a cute and sexy pink-haired, slightly dangerous girlfriend... And those things only worked on Elizabeth... Well, they probably worked on other people with good tastes too.

But something told Elizabeth that they didn't work on the Magical Girl council, that one had been made up with Magical Girls recruited by Mother to do her job, half of them didn't indulge on the same tastes as Mother, and even if they did, Mother didn't like pink-haired girls.

Elizabeth didn't understand why; Rossie was adorable.

No, wait, Rossie...what does Rossie have besides those things?

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

What did Rossie have that made her special to other people who weren't Elizabeth?

"She wanted the future Saintess of Healing?" Elizabeth said aloud, looking at Rossie, "How did she find out about that?"

"....Most of the important people know we have special mana or skills, Eli-Eli," Rossie said with a sigh, "Hard not to notice when a first-year student has as much mastery of healing magic as I do."

Elizabeth nodded at that, that seemed...logical when looking back, Elizabeth never really questioned it, but her uprising had been anything but normal.

"No wait, you said 'we'," Elizabeth said turning to Rossie, "So that means..."

"They knew about myself, Michael...and of course about the bug," Rena answered, the last part said with obvious distaste and hate. "It was weird enough the fact that someone that talented in healing magic showed up, but the fact that there was a budding sage and a master swordsman too...and if we add to that..."

At that point, Rena stopped talking at that point, Elizabeth could see the Mana wanting to rampage within the red-haired girl, so she merely placed her hand on Rena's shoulders, which seemed to do the trick as the Mana started calming down.

"The fact that there was someone who showed a combat prowess similar to A-Rank Heroes, even if he missed some of their strength..." Agatha finished the words.

"And all of their morals, I hope." Elizabeth added on the side, "Because if all the A-Rank Heroes are like what Akira was..."

Elizabeth didn't finish those words and instead just let her feelings flood into her Mana as behind her, the shadows grew hideous mouths and red reptilian-looking eyes.

Even when deciding to explore more of the other affinities she had available to her, Shadows were what she could communicate her emotions best.

"...There is...some degree of that, I'll not lie to you. There are reasons why the populace doesn't know why people like [Shadow Pact], [The Traveler], [The Sniper] and [The Warlock] are part of the top Heroes, even to the point that their feats are amplified to the media to make them look more powerful than they are." Agatha said with a sigh.

So they were indeed the weaker side, huh?

"Don't get me wrong and don't get any funny ideas inside that blonde head," Agatha smirked, "Even if they are weaker, that is only using the more powerful members as comparative."

The most powerful members as comparative? Oh...right.

"[The Juggernaut]," Elizabeth said, of course it was thanks to Jenna...

"And [The Beast Master], even if he isn't as popular and as visible. [The Beast Master] alone is capable of world-ending scenarios. Some world leaders even have attempted to tie him up with a [Geass] before." Agatha shook her head at the statement, as if it was the most stupid thing ever.

And granted, if Elizabeth...no. When Elizabeth acquired that degree of power, she wouldn't ever accept such a thing either.

"His answer must have pissed off so many people," Rossie said with a smirk on her face.

"It did, but not for the reasons you think," Agatha said bringing a new video, there stood [The Beast Master] and [The Elementalist] at the side, "I'll accept the [Geass],"

[The Beast Master] said, to the surprise of everyone on site, even to Elizabeth. She had thought he would refuse, or that [The Elementalist] would say something since he was the one being guarded by him.

"Should you manage to find someone capable of binding me that is," And with those statements [The Beast Master] left, he just straight up walked out of the site, "We will be awaiting the [Geass Masters], please communicate with the Izanami Embassy when you are ready to attempt binding My Bodyguard, do notice that we will not be responsible for any backlash you suffer from attempting to do such a...stupid thing."

  Ah.

"So he only accepted because he was confident on resisting the [Geass] bind?" Elizabeth asked confused, half because she hadn't expected such a thing, and the other half because they were reviewing [The Beast Master], again. Even though they should be speaking about [The Prophet].

"Well we aren't sure. What we know is that among the people that attempted to bind him was [The Prophet] and [The Warlock]. The spell they used was called [Ying and Yang reversion of fate]." Agatha said summoning a newspaper with just that notice, it was written in the Izanami letters, those weird noodle-like pictograms. "They failed, but the fact that both showed up as if nothing the next day proves their mastery over their respective powers, mostly because most of the people that attempted to bind [The Beast Master] ended up dead or close to dead."

Elizabeth could see why, if this was the third on the scale of power... Well, Papa didn't spoke of many people when it was about power. But this was one among those that he spoke of.

So then this meant that [The Beast Master] was someone who was powerful.

But the fact that [The Prophet] could survive trying to seal someone like this?

  How did she manage?

"Half is probably the fact that the target was willing." Rossie said from the side, "I can't imagine other reason why she would be okay after trying such a thing."

"She may be hiding the wounds behind a [Shift]." Rena said from the side, to the surprise of everyone. "What? It is possible to do so, right?"

Elizabeth was the first one to speak in this stunned silence.

"...Yes, it is possible." Elizabeth answered, her own Mother had done so after all, Elizabeth...didn't like to think about that, about how the real body of her Mother looked like. The body of Catherine Saintsworths, was one filled with hideous scars and fresh blood.

It was the body of someone who sacrificed everything to make sure her daughter had a chance at life.

"...It would require a great amount of mastery over the [Shift Spell], and something close to a miracle to pull off by someone who is more of a [Holy Spellcaster]." Agatha said from the side, "There are some records of Magical Girls doing this, be it to hide the wounds of combat or to continue their normal life when suffering debilitating injuries that manage to pierce their shift into their real bodies."

"So it would require a [Miracle], one that can be bestowed by a [Godess] who just so happens to have thrown a couple [Wish]'s to her former coworkers?" Elizabeth said, remembering what they offered to Rossie.

They probably knew the [Wish] could work, and how could they know that without testing it before?

The Woman probably ended up badly hurt after attempting to chain down [The Beast Master] and to save her own Ego used the [Wish] Mother left behind.

Elizabeth doubted such a [Wish] could save her, if it was that easy then Mother would have healed her from the coma she suffered post [Advent].

"So the [Wish] was real huh..." Rossie said in a small voice.

"It wouldn't have worked," Elizabeth quickly said, "If it could heal me, Mother would have done so, she wouldn't have waited for you to ask it."

"But...[Gods] and [Goddess] can't act on the mortal plane because they want to, they are bound to their divine realms, if no one communed with them, they can't descen-" Rossie started going on.

"...You literally saw Mother descend here and jump from Agatha into my Soul." Elizabeth said, pointing at her chest, "Trust me, if Mother wanted to descend, she would have descended. She did the same before when we visited her church. She may be a [Goddess], but that Woman can't be reasoned with or even measured by normal rules."

"...she did look like someone who didn't care about rules." Rena chimed from the side, "From what you have told us at least."

"..." Agatha said nothing but even so, nodded at the opinion of both girls.

"So I did good?" Rossie asked in a small voice.

"Yes, you did. They would have stuck me into a room and used me as a way to control you. Even if they somehow managed to wake me up from the coma, they would have probably sealed my Mana to make sure they kept a tight control over you." Elizabeth of course had no proof of that.

"That is..." Rossie was about to say something when Agatha stopped her with a raised hand.

"Probably more closer to truth than you will ever know," She said summoning some graphs, they read the amount of crimes committed in some areas, "Crime rates go down in any town or city that [The Prophet] or [The Warlock] go, but the criminals are never caught or sent to the judicial system."

  That...was suspicious.

"Then where do they go?" Elizabeth asked, fearing the answer already.

"There is no proof about this of course, but most of the time the crimes on nations that refuse the [Help] offered by their organization or business enterprises end up with a rise in crime." Agatha sighed, it was so obvious that they were diverting the criminals into their enemies...

"What organization is this? Surely more people should have noticed by now," Rena asked confused at this, if they could notice. "Why isn't anyone doing something?"

"Well, it is hard to go after a charity organization as extensive as is [De'Medicci] they have orphanages worldwide, food centers, you name it and they do it," Agatha shrugged as she summoned the pertinent information.

"Ah yeah, the goddamned Italians." Said a voice that seemed to be singing as if a thousand sirens had descended from the heavens, at the same time Elizabeth felt a pair of hands embrace her from behind, a face that seemed to be sculpted by the gods suddenly resting on her shoulder.

"Mother, use your normal voice or I'll burn the almanac you hid in the safe." Elizabeth said without turning to look behind.

"...you wouldn't." The normal voice of her Mother said, tinged with horror, "...right?"

"Long time no see, Mother," Elizabeth said, smiling as she let her head rest against the older Woman.

"...Hubby! Eli-Eli is bullying me!" The older Woman said as she dragged Elizabeth from her chair towards a lanky-looking black-haired man.

"Long time no see Agatha," The black-haired man said raising his hand towards the witch.

Elizabeth always found funny the weird contrast her parents had, in one hand she had her Mother, Catherine Starlight. The blonde model-looking Woman who always looked as if she was waiting for someone to take a picture of her.

And in the other hand she had her Papa, Jack Brighton. The black-haired man who looked as a washed out Idol, not bad on the eyes at all. But he still looked as if he wouldn't dress up unless someone else forced him to.

And to be honest, Elizabeth liked him more on his [American Crusader] form, and not this pseudo-shift Mother casted for him.

But well, now that they were [Gods], perhaps this was no longer a shift?

"[Framework], [Odyssey]," Agatha said lowering her head, "What can this unworthy-"

"No." Mother said using her stern voice, the one that didn't match her antics at all, and one of the very few things that screamed at Mother, "Nothing of that, we have spoken about this before, Gatty. If there is someone in this cursed planet that can speak to us as equals besides Eli-Eli and her waifus is you."

"As Catherine said Agatha," Papa added from the side, "You are part of the family."

"....As you say." Agatha said nursing the side of her head, was she having a headache? Understandable, if Elizabeth ended with Mother speaking 24/7 in her head, she would end with one too, "What can I do for you both?"

"We came to say hello!" Mother said, that resulted in a chop to her head from Papa, "And to explain a couple things about the goddamned Italians."

  ...The Italians?

The ones Mother asked her to be wary of?

But they were supposed to speak about [The Prophet]!

Goddamned Mother, why are you derailing more this!
